European allies vow more support for Kyiv at security meet
thaibeachlovers replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
They can "vow" all they want, till it results in actual more support. The longer it lasts the more unpopular it will become for their populations that see longer waiting times for medical treatment etc and increasing prices for everything. Ask British nurses if they agree to be paid too little so bullets can be sent to Ukraine. -
First thing I thought when I read that was that it's too short at 5 weeks, so I checked how long the British army basic training takes and I reckon I'm right about that. http://www.armedforces.co.uk/army/listings/l0138.html There are 23 weeks of military training, which include basic or advanced soldiering, progressive physical training, infantry weapons, grenades, military leadership, marksmanship, parade ground drill. There is also a two week final exercise in the field.

Biden healthy, vigorous and fit for job, says doctor

We HOPE he took a cognitive test. Fixed it for you. -
That's the reaction of those that don't realise that hospitals cost, A LOT, to run, and I'm assuming she isn't in a charity hospital. Hospitals have thousands of employees and suppliers that expect to be paid, medical equipment is hugely expensive, buildings require maintenance, lawyers and accountants get their cut etc etc etc. That's why hospitals in LOS are run as a business, not a charity.

Well, it belonged to the Ottoman empire till 1783, so perhaps it belongs to Turkey. Seriously, Russia has a better claim to it than Ukraine, IMO. https://www.wilsoncenter.org/publication/why-did-russia-give-away-crimea-sixty-years-ago Crimea was part of Russia from 1783, when the Tsarist Empire annexed it a decade after defeating Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kozludzha, until 1954, when the Soviet government transferred Crimea from the Russian Soviet Federation of Socialist Republics (RSFSR) to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UkrSSR).

Prebunking: The new tactic to help people spot fake news
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
What's a "reliable source" these days? I don't trust any media of any sort and assume that it's BS till proven otherwise. Even once trusted sources such as the BBC are suspect now. -
I traveled hundreds of times on long distance buses in LOL with no problems, traveled hundreds of times on trains with no problems, flew occasionally with no problems, drove a car for thousands of km with no accidents. The only real problem I had was while on a m'bike and someone drove into me. I also used ferries many times but was on one that broke down at sea, so not a frequent problem. Perhaps you were unlucky.

For me they needed to be light enough to walk on my spine with both feet, and not be taller than my shoulder ( that way high heels didn't make them taller than me ). No fatties or stretch marks, obviously. Age wasn't important as long as not going to look like granny before I died.

Had my first partner not stopped having sex with me, likely we'd still be together as I'd never have know that it's better in LOS than what she was giving me when she was doing it to trap me .

Hotel Receptionist Situation.
thaibeachlovers replied to NoshowJones's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Easy enough now with super small cameras. I always checked for such if in an hotel that I didn't know. Checking the mirror if fixed to the wall is a must check for cameras behind it. -
I don't know anyone still married after 20 years that are "in love". IMO they are still together for companionship or it's better than being alone, or they'd lose too much financially ( 50/50 split ). Nothing wrong with that, as long as they don't hate each other, but it's a bit sad that it's just two individuals living in same house. IMO if they were in LOS the guy would move out to live with a young woman instead.

As she apparently had insurance that seems likely. If one isn't covered for riding a m'bike just DON'T. Thailand is NOT the place to learn to ride a m'bike. Are we to be continually reading of young people thinking it's safe to ride a m'bike in LOS getting into strife? Surely it's time for western governments to put a travel warning out to prevent young western tourists doing something they shouldn't?
