  1. My concern for the Ukrainian people is more and better placed than those who support this war, where the Ukrainian people are being used as cannon fodder in the US's proxy war with Russia, My above assessment is a pragmatic one. Do you find any faut with it? if so I like to hear it. And has nothing to do with concern or lack of concern. Those who support the war are the worst enemy of the Ukrainian people, . With friends like them who needs enemies .
  2. Yes because we all know that war advances at a steady predictable rate. " This will require 300 years and 300 million more soldiers. " to do what? March all the way to Fredonia . An additional question: how many more Ukrainian soldiers would it will require to defend? and finely. with a Ukrainian population of 38 million and a Russian population of 144 million , who do you think has the edge in the attrition issue?
  3. I had originally bought stock on Tesla but sold many years ago and made a pretty good return, I thought Musk was a visionary then , now I am convinced that he is just an A-hole who was at the right place , at the right time. Unless they encode some sort of a watermark in AI creations not only would it create a deepfake problem but it would give others plausible deniability to say to any recording, "That was not me, that's deepfake".
  4. Same here. I find myself to now have to look at the keyboard otherwise I often lose my place on the keyboard and type nonsense,(wekk moe nonsense than usual) LOL Most of the time I am missing a letter because i do not strike the key strong enough. Also I have notice on myself that being bilingual might confuse me in my choice of letters, (not sure what is going on there) The "V" in the qwerty keyboard is an (N) in Greek, and the B in the English keyboard is a V in the Greek ,and these letters are right next to each other so I often find myself subconsciously having made the wrong choice. ( Weird right?) . I also tend to be a bit controversial in my posts and consequently I get a lot of Notifications, and I am often sparring with two or three members here while holding conversations on FB with my sister in Italy, or my other sister in Greece, or my baby sister in the US, and some people in the FB groups I belong, and I dont have the time to proofread everything I write, but even when I do skim over it, because my brain knows what I meant to write often miss what it is actually written. Oh the joys of getting older , but if you consider the alternative, not too bad!
  5. Certainly many different people , but what is the common thread that unites most ou us? not all, but a majority of us.
  6. No not only vaccines, don't let them off so easy! They try to force, rule of law, democratic elections, The bastards even try to force to constitution on us. Freedom to collective bargaining, they are pro choice,End of life personal decisions, the law applies equally to all!! Imagine that? Brother , the list is too long. Socialism, what did socialism ever did for us?? Ok Ok, they did give us Social security, we like that, and Medicare is not too bad, roads a bridges ftr all to use is useful, Children's Health Insurance Program can be said to good . Ohh and Unemployment insurance, I like that.
  7. Not according to this thread. The thread says that there is a majority of Progressives. And it makes sense, a conservative mind is for the most part not as adventurous. Scientific studies have discovered physical evidence that the Amygdala part of the brain where fear resides is larger in conservatives. If you don't believe me google it. So it's no wonder that more progressives would progress to a new country than conservatives whom fear of lose is greater than the desire for gain.
  8. I have by US savings parked on CDs and treasuries , keeping pace with inflation, and insured, I could make more in the market but at my age I cant afford to lose them. 2008 I lost almost everything, but I was young enough to make some calls get back to NYC work my ass of, and get it all back, Now I would be done for .
  9. Because it takes a certain amount of intelligence to get here.
  10. So true, I have yet to see an intelligent maga post , where I would say, Hmm sure , I have to think about this, and then when you easily shot down their argument they either come back with an even more ridiculous counter argument or move on to a different issue having learned nothing!! because a few days later you see them making the same argument. They are weird to say the least.
  11. I am sure different people learned different things, Way more than you The only job you know. Stop listening to your echo chamber and you might learn a thing or two.
  12. The evidence suggests otherwise, If what you say is correct then they would had been high in the past few years when we knew of her even less. But how often is what a Chicken Don supporter says corect? Not often otherwise they would not be Chicken Don supporters. So let me break it down for you, When people knew less of her , her polls were down, now that they know more of her, her polls are higher, what does that suggest to you. (this should be fun)
  13. This is a world issue not a US issue. Aren't things in your own country more expensive? Is there anyone in this forum whose county's prices have not gone up? So when assessing a situation it is important to consider the environment it occurs in .The same exact situation but in different environments will produce different results. Are prices higher in the US? sure they are . as I said so are in the rest of the world also. But is the US economy outperforming the rest of the world? If you don't know the answer all you have to do is google it. So if I was to vote with my wallet, as you suggested , and most people do then I would vote for the Democratic record.
  14. No,, just stupid on my part, and jumping the gun. I got your joke after going back and reading the post I was replying too and you then replied. I tried not to reply on spelling errors because " those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" Often my spelling is also atrocious as I get older . It is an interesting subject to me as an observer to my own mental decline. I think I will start a thread. Ye have a lot of older members here and I wonder how they deal with it and even if they are aware of it.
  15. testing testing , LOL attempt to remove reply
  16. Though what you say might be true within the context of the financial relationship between tourism and retirees, Obviously tourism creates a lot more revenue than retirees, and id retirees negatively impacted the revenue from tourism, then the would chose tourism over retirees. ,But It is not true within the contexts of this conversation , which does not include tourism in the mix. The reason given over the tax scheme, is to increase revenue from taxation , and with in that context if doing something increases revenue or decreases revenue is an important factor and unless they are stupid they care.
  17. Like the pressure on the Hamas leader who was assassinated in Iran? By who I wonder?
  18. He is not very bright you know, so perhaps he just don't get the joke.
  19. Politics are like a stripper who dances from the right leg to the left. and from the left to the right, But she makes her living in the middle .
  20. I am a know it all ,and don't need to read any stinking books
  21. It's crazy that we are seven months into this and still are not sure what we will pay. But from experience how other countries have approached this I am certain that it will not be up to 35% because many will simply leave and others won't come, which would defeat the revenue expansion purpose of these tax schemes. Greece as an example because this is something I have looked into, For instance , to induce foreign retirement in Greece . those foreigners retiring there will only pay 7% tax, Digital nomads, ge a 50% tax rebate if the stay there for two years. out of curiosity I googled Portugal and retirees there pay only 10% in Cambodia and Vietnam Non-residents are taxed at a flat rate of 20%, Malta 15% Cyprus 5% on amounts in excess of EUR 3,420 (the first EUR 3,420 is exempt). The point being that if Thailand wants to be competitive in attracting and maintaining foreigners and retirees, it would also have to be competitive with it's tax rates.
  22. No doubt about that, that's why so many Greeks go there, If we had not gotten US visas our second choice was Australia or Canada
  23. You mean it was beautiful before the white man? I don't think there was a Naples before the white man, IMO at least as far as Nables is concerned, The white man giveth and the white man taketh away,
