So true, I have yet to see an intelligent maga post , where I would say, Hmm sure , I have to think about this, and then when you easily shot down their argument they either come back with an even more ridiculous counter argument or move on to a different issue having learned nothing!! because a few days later you see them making the same argument. They are weird to say the least.

I am sure different people learned different things, Way more than you The only job you know. Stop listening to your echo chamber and you might learn a thing or two.

The evidence suggests otherwise, If what you say is correct then they would had been high in the past few years when we knew of her even less. But how often is what a Chicken Don supporter says corect? Not often otherwise they would not be Chicken Don supporters. So let me break it down for you, When people knew less of her , her polls were down, now that they know more of her, her polls are higher, what does that suggest to you. (this should be fun)

This is a world issue not a US issue. Aren't things in your own country more expensive? Is there anyone in this forum whose county's prices have not gone up? So when assessing a situation it is important to consider the environment it occurs in .The same exact situation but in different environments will produce different results. Are prices higher in the US? sure they are . as I said so are in the rest of the world also. But is the US economy outperforming the rest of the world? If you don't know the answer all you have to do is google it. So if I was to vote with my wallet, as you suggested , and most people do then I would vote for the Democratic record.

No,, just stupid on my part, and jumping the gun. I got your joke after going back and reading the post I was replying too and you then replied. I tried not to reply on spelling errors because " those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" Often my spelling is also atrocious as I get older . It is an interesting subject to me as an observer to my own mental decline. I think I will start a thread. Ye have a lot of older members here and I wonder how they deal with it and even if they are aware of it.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
sirineou replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Though what you say might be true within the context of the financial relationship between tourism and retirees, Obviously tourism creates a lot more revenue than retirees, and id retirees negatively impacted the revenue from tourism, then the would chose tourism over retirees. ,But It is not true within the contexts of this conversation , which does not include tourism in the mix. The reason given over the tax scheme, is to increase revenue from taxation , and with in that context if doing something increases revenue or decreases revenue is an important factor and unless they are stupid they care. -
He is not very bright you know, so perhaps he just don't get the joke.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
sirineou replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's crazy that we are seven months into this and still are not sure what we will pay. But from experience how other countries have approached this I am certain that it will not be up to 35% because many will simply leave and others won't come, which would defeat the revenue expansion purpose of these tax schemes. Greece as an example because this is something I have looked into, For instance , to induce foreign retirement in Greece . those foreigners retiring there will only pay 7% tax, Digital nomads, ge a 50% tax rebate if the stay there for two years. out of curiosity I googled Portugal and retirees there pay only 10% in Cambodia and Vietnam Non-residents are taxed at a flat rate of 20%, Malta 15% Cyprus 5% on amounts in excess of EUR 3,420 (the first EUR 3,420 is exempt). The point being that if Thailand wants to be competitive in attracting and maintaining foreigners and retirees, it would also have to be competitive with it's tax rates. -
No doubt about that, that's why so many Greeks go there, If we had not gotten US visas our second choice was Australia or Canada

You mean it was beautiful before the white man? I don't think there was a Naples before the white man, IMO at least as far as Nables is concerned, The white man giveth and the white man taketh away,

PDF (a typo) , all the tax recipricity agreements I have seen are in PDF format, obviously I did not mean that I read the US on on a personal assistant. PS: I have a degree in Aeronautical engineering, I know how to read a document, and my way around Basic, Fortran and spreadsheets. shows you how old I am, Also hold a full book at the international brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 212 , but I am more of a bucher than a carpenter, since I got this because the company I worked for specialising in concrete forms was a union shop and it was nessacery for my to belong to the union that managed concrete forms.

then there is this. Right or wrong I formed an opinion and stated the reasons why I formed such opinion, all tour side has done is counter that opinio with unsupported opinion and personal attacks. Not unlike what Chicken Don does . No wonder there is such attraction between the two of you You know what Bucko we all have an opinion, but opinions unless you are willing to support them with argument are like that proverbial bodily orifice we all have. . Personally I think he is playing you and in private he is laughing at you. He is communicating with you, and like a savvy conmen he uses the language you understand.

Perhaps for someone as intelligent as you it is all clear but unfortunately, for the unwashed masses of the rest of us it is clear a mud. It seems to me that you keep saying that it is our fault for not understanding what The Tais have already put out there. But You seem to contradict yourself yourself with the above statement that seems to suggest that the regulations are not clear for everyone, I know what my DTA says, I can read, but I don't know for sure , how the Thais will interpret those, I am sure this is true for other nationals also. I have yet to seen anywhere anything pertaining to specific DTAs from the Thais. How hard would it be to provide their interpretation for at least the main main groups of expats living in Thailand if not for all of them ? But even if not , post a statement that all reciprocal tax agreements will be respected as stated in their Country's PDA . that way they dont have to do anything, because we all know how expensive labor is in thailand and to have someone sit down an compile such a list and then have someone else review it could cost hundreds of bahts ( I am being facetious) Not go ahead and file, or ,not file. And we will see if you are right. What kind of banana republic attitude is this?

Unlike most countries that derive their national integrity from a shared ethnicity the US who consists from Immigrant population and hyphenated Americans (Greek Americans , German Americans Korean Americans etc) derives a big part of it's cohesion by a shared trust in out institutions. trump in an attempt to replace there institutions with himself , which is the first thing all dictators do. The Supreme Court was our last universally trusted institution, that we all felt it to be the gape keeper to all these other institutions we had doubts about. He has stacked the Supreme Court with people more loyal to him than to the constitution . an IMO existential danger to the idea that is America. When "America"no longer exists , the geographical area between Canada and mexico will still exist, people will still live there, and they will still govern themselves by some sort of system But it will not be America. These Maga people with their hats, and their flags and supposed patriotism are destroying America!

Its now 7 months into the tax year and still we use terms like "seems" , maybe, perhaps. TIT Though I love it here, and my life here is settled with our own home , gardens , cars and such, I am kind of hoping that my pensions in the US will be taxed, because I like it better in Greece and knowing how my Thai wife is with money, would finally convince her to agree and move there, especially now that my sister is moving there , with whom my wife is very good friends.

Don't know much about Naples. Though I have traveled extensively through FL . for some strange reason I never ended up in Naples . I was up in Sanibel island dot too far from there though but I understand that though nice, it's not the same vibe. Most of my travels in FL were uo and down the I-95 corridor, and east to west on the I-4. No rowing for me, sounds like a lot of work, but I loved going cannoning up and down the intercostal with my daughter and friends.

I seem to be doing it fine all by myself. LOL

Thank you for that comprehensive explanation, I am learning a lot from these conversations. In Thailand they have a 10 year statute of limitations to audits? so I guess you have to keep 11 years of tax records. In the US they usually go back 3 years but if they find any discrepancies they can go back an additional 3 years , that's why we are advised to keep seven years of records.
