  1. There is no contract commitment only need to buy a monthly credit as and when needed. So if visiting for a few weeks a £10 1 month credit will give unlimited UK calls and texts and 12gb or so data.
  2. Indeed. If it's purpose is mainly/only to receive texts from a UK bank from time to time then all that is needed to keep it activated is to send a text every 6 months. A £10 credit will last something like 15 years. Ought to be in line with the budget of even the most frugal "expat".
  3. I replaced a stolen UK passport several years ago. At that time the reporting of the loss was by a form rather than online. The actual application was exactly the same as for a regular renewal with the addition of the lost or stolen form and a police report. I did not have a copy of the lost passport but this did not present any issue with the application nor with the speed of the replacement.
  4. It was OK in January, could have changed since then of course.
  5. from the UK embassy website; VFS Bangkok will give you a template letter when you collect your new passport from their office. Alternatively the British Embassy Bangkok can post a template letter to you at an address in Thailand. To request this service send a message via our online contact form, giving the reason for your request along with your name and address.
  6. It has been said on here before that claiming by phone is far easier than filling in the form with all those dates, etc. - apparently all the detail is not needed at all. Can't say from personal experience but have certainly read it here several times over the years.
  7. Well, as stated before it's 4 years you need not 3 (don't forget '21/22). Personally I would certainly try to get confirmation before sending money into oblivion.
  8. Mine was similar but not quite the same as yours as it was clear I had one year to make up. In your case it seems you will get £163.99 based upon your current contributions. Seems that 21/22 is not calculated yet so they are saying what you'll get assuming it is a full year (which it clearly wont be). And a maximum of £185.15 (the current full pension amount) if you top up some more - looks to me like a total of 4 (3+'21/22) years needed.
  9. My current "State Pension Summary" shows a full pension entitlement. This is where you need to look. What does your show? It is where it tells you actually how many years you need to top up. Mine used to tell me I was a year short. However, my NI statement still shows the following, even though topping up any more will not achieve anything.; 33 years of full contributions 4 years to contribute before 5 April 2026 13 years when you did not contribute enough
  10. It says "You must be within 4 months of your State Pension age to claim." which could be read both ways but actually means in the 4 months before.
  11. Not when I read it it doesn't; Your State Pension can be paid into: a bank in the country you’re living in a bank or building society in the UK
  12. They don't really want proof of residency, rather proof of the legal right of residence, and if you look at the embassy requirement it is not supposed to apply to non-nationals. However, it is normally suggested to upload your passport photo page (again) for this purpose. For the embassy; Confirmation of legal residence in the UK or Ireland (if applicants are not nationals of these countries) e.g. long stay visa, residence permit, BRP card
  13. As far as I can see the first thing needed is your invitation code which they will send to your UK address, hopefully the OP has one and DWP have it on record. As you need to be within 3 months of pension age he has plenty of time to get that sorted. Failing that it is perfectly possible to apply without pretending to be in the UK. https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad Applying outside the UK gives you the advantage of not receiving increases and being able to join in with all the others bleating and whining about being hard done by, etc.
  14. As an absolute minimum you would certainly need to have something that connects your new passport to the one on the account records, better still have the old passport is available. But as stated, old accounts eventually expire of their own volition without you needing to do anything, seems that doing nothing is by far the easiest option.
  15. "Thai Visas, Residency and Work Permits" is where it is now .......see under your name. As I recall from your earlier thread they intend to travel overland out of Thailand within the 60 days of their initial Tourist visa entry. I think I would include the travel booking in the visa application but add a note that they will be leaving and returning later by land for the return flight. Failing that if they do buy a rental ticket or throwaway then of course include that.
  16. It was increased to and still is THB700 and has been included in your ticket for 15 years or so.
  17. Yes. You are missing the 2 x 30 day extensions of the 2 x 30 day land entries.
  18. Those are the ones I would stay in, especially if you are bringing a tribe of kids with you.
