  1. Never the best for a bar hop. Maybe pop back tonight? I've had some fun in those beer bars, they can/do get busy when they are allowed to sell beer.
  2. Apparently if you already did the conversion of a foreign license you cannot do it again. And I originally did it in 2008. So basically had to start from scratch. One "agent" claimed that my still valid UK license would avoid the need for the testing, but the DLT folks didn't agree. But as said, all worked out fine and the tests are fun.
  3. I just had to do the same as my 5 year license was over 3 years expired. Theory test and actual driving test. Rented the DLT car for the test, 100 baht. Absolutely nothing to be concerned about, some, me for one, would even call it a fun day out.
  4. I leave home at about 11am, will be at the hotel shortly after 2pm for check in. Call it 4 hours max. Works for me, not about the cost or time, not sure what I would do with the extra two hours time if I waited for a taxi, sleep maybe. Nam's will bring me home for sure.
  5. Next weekend I will take my regular transport route to Pattaya for the weekend from Bangkok. I do it cause I like it, not because its the cheapest but it's enjoyable, for me at least; Motorbike taxi to MRT, 20 baht MRT to Petchaaburi, 15 baht ARL to Suvarnabhumi, 35 baht Bell Bus to Pattaya, 190 baht Motorbike taxi to hotel, 100 baht ( know that's OTT but I don't care) Return journey will be by taxi as will be feeling like crap by then.
  6. Apologies, I was hoping to stem the tide of incorrectly answered questions.
  7. Apologies. You did read the question but answered a completely different one.
  8. Indeed, but you didn't really read the question.
  9. The option appear in "Add-ons" along with meals, seats, and all the other options. Added after you enter passenger details. (20kg is 460.10 as an example)
  10. You might want to leave the new passport a little while. The UK no longer adds extra months to the expiry date in the case of early renewal.
  11. I have read the same many times and it seems to be the case. Of course the only issue to consider is if wanting to travel in the last 6 months or not, if staying put then no problems.
  12. Having recently suffered several hours of driver training and the driving theory test training I can assure you that at least the education part is firmly on the side of the pedestrian. Whether at the crossing waiting to cross or actually on the crossing the correct answer in both cases is STOP. Of course as enforcement is non-existent even the educated will know which rules they can ignore.
  13. Then make her check if you already have a re-entry permit as without one you'll be coming back starting from scratch. You can get is at you immigration office or at the airport on departure - I'd be inclined to go along beforehand if I were you.
  14. ......and as mentioned above make sure you do have a re-entry permit!
  15. Finally! You don't have a visa. You have an extension of stay. But nevertheless all the advice given is valid. Entry with both passports then transfer at immigration. And by the way no, you don't need any embassy letter.
  16. Thai family visit visa presumably? Then you'll get a 90 day entry when you come back and have to do an extension (60 days to visit wife?) or border bounce after that. Probably no need to go to immigration until then.
  17. No need to go to the Embassy. They won't do anything there. They won't transfer your visa at the airport on arrival but they will stamp you in with reference to your old passport. If it is as you say a "visa" then you don't really need to do anything more. If by some chance it is actually an extension of stay you can go to your local office and transfer it, but presumably whatever it is will need to be renewed soon anyway as it will expire the same time as your old passport.
  18. You certainly don't do it in London. What do you actually have, a valid visa or an extension of stay? Either way get your new passport and present both old and new at immigration when you return. Anything to be transferred is done at your local immigration office.
  19. You flew KLM I recall....this;
  20. Go old. My personal best experiences have come from ladies of a certain age. Sure you wouldn't want to take them for drinks/dinner but otherwise, "at night all cats are grey" holds true. And they are cheaper.
  21. Well I wont scurry anywhere but I will certainly buy a bottle of red to enjoy in the evening with a nice ribeye that is lurking in my fridge. Bit like Christmas in the UK of old when the pubs were shut in the evening, don't know, or care, what happens there now.
  22. Are you suggesting that the IO's offering this "service" are not real and people are entering the country on fake stamps? Bizarre.
  23. I know that it is the same number but is there any real connection between the tax office and the card/book? In other words having had a yellow book since 2009 can I expect a letter from the taxman at the registered address if I have never actually had any dealings with them?
  24. 90 day report won't be any issue. What they will need is to show they maintained THB 800/400/800k in a bank account in their own name(s) for the current extension period. And presumably they have re-entry permits?
