Cripes, I've only got six months left, if all goes well.

I find the whole thing ironic. They've given the nod to bars opening until 4 am so that people can pour alcohol down their throats all night and then appear worried about them leaving inebriated.

German backpacker speaks out about rape ordeal on Koh Chang
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
If one of my daughters had told me that whilst in a foreign country, she'd gone with just a male tour guide for company, to a a secluded beach, I'd have been very angry with her. Because he was a tour guide didn't make him any less likely to become a sex offender. The poor girl didn't expect or deserve to be sexually assaulted, but I would advise her to use more caution in future.- 58 replies

I've drank just about every day of my life since I was 15. I'm now 79 yoa and in my opinion, fit as a fiddle. I jog every other day and weigh 71 kg. I see many unfit fat unhealthy men who don't drink. I know which I prefer. Alcohol is a great relaxant.

Why are fewer Chinese tourists visiting Thailand?

Shush! They might change their minds. -
If you read enough posts from this guy, you'll learn to ignore him.

Sounds a bit like my old condo in Jomtien. Had a German guy lived opposite. Nice fellow, but he and his Thai girlfriend used to leave their door open all day whilst playing loud country and western music. I moved to a different condo building in the same complex and it was worse if anything. Doors slamming, renovation noise, loud bass-heavy music from other units, noisy people coming and going at all hours of the night, bass-heavy music from the beach etc etc It was a relief to finally move into a house. If I was ever to move into another condo, I'd rent the most expensive that I could afford with good insulation between the units and some distance from the beach.

Immigration queues Jomtien

It doesn't matter to the rich and if I was one of that group, I'd use an agent too. -
Although I love to listen to classical music, I've never been a big fan of J S Bach. A few pieces I do enjoy, but most of his music I find boring. A good composer in my humble opinion is one whose entire works I can listen to over and over ie Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Sibelius to mention a few. I keep returning to old JS, but can't seem to get on with him.

Reckon everyone on the planet would fit into one of those categories. It certainly makes me one.

The city needs a couple of "Park and Rides" somewhere over the dark side maybe. When I visit town, I always park in the big temple car park near the lights on Second/South Pattaya Rd and either walk or take a baht bus to where I want to go. I'm 80 yoa next birthday and have no problem unless it's raining. Of course some with disabilities can't do this. Fortunately, the supermarkets I use are either on or near Sukhumvit, so I don't go into town much.

I removed Adblock, but I still can't view Youtube on Chrome. Downloaded Microsoft Edge and I can watch it fine, albeit with ads.

Well, I was served by an AI waitress that looked like a walking frame and played an annoying tune when it walked a few days back, so anything's possible.

I can't imagine my missus laughing while someone drowns, so I doubt that it's a cultural thing. Although saying that, on a wet pavement pavement in Jomtien I slipped and went down very hard on my ass. A local woman coming the other way laughed and walked on. All that was hurt was my dignity, but if it had been now, some twelve or so years later, it could have been a problem.

Opinion It is time to abolish the death penalty in Thailand
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Emphatically NO! There are a lot of innocent people who are rotting in their grave now, murdered by monsters who've been imprisoned for murder and let out early. Even those who've had their death sentence commuted to life imprisonment rarely serve the full life term. I guarantee not many completely innocent people have been wrongly convicted and executed. If they have, it's probably because of their long criminal record. I also think that those found guilty should be executed not long after being sentenced to cut out these costly appeals. One quick appeal and if it fails, the sentence should be carried out in days in my opinion. I couldn't argue with that if I was a guilty of murder. -
a half teaspoon of any instant coffee to give it bite, plus a heaped spoon of Arabica ground in a filter bag. Heaped spoon of Coffee Mate and that to me is perfection

At 70 yoa? Regarding foreigners, there seems to be no respect here for age. -
Thais are largest group of dead foreigners in Israel

I think they just require foreigners to work as hard as they do. -
Bet you've made the goody goodies on here go into a deep depression. They thrive on being holier than thou.

I'd rather return to UK! If you knew how I felt about my home country these days, you'd realise how profound a statement that is.

Still doesn't fool anyone that he's cuffed. When I was in the British Army, another guy and I had to escort a prisoner who'd gone AWOL from Anglesey to Catterick. We weren't allowed to cuff the guy (a big Irishman) so it was a long stressful train journey for us in case he tried to do a runner. Fortunately, he was as good as gold.

Pedestrianise Bua Khau except for ambulances and make a new baht bus route up and down Third Road. Make all fat falang regain the use of their legs.
