  1. Keep up that rhetoric mate and you could end up sheltering under that table.
  2. Something big another baht of gold. More modest , a large bottle of duty free Cointreau.
  3. Including stoner
  4. Yes, which is why I would prefer a drinkable infusion.
  5. I'm in exactly the same boat. Smoked daily for about 15 years but no desire to take up the habit again. I find Ibuprufen works ok for my back pain but long term use of this has its dangers so was also considering some kind of CBD infusion with perhaps a little THC to drink in the evening to save taking Ibuprufen again plus maybe get a better nights sleep. Prik Pot do some infusions but they seem expensive so was looking around for a cheaper alternative.
  6. Too impersonal. Prefer a Johnny cab.
  7. I've been home sick for as long as I can remember. Sick of home that is.
  8. I went to Klong Prem prison a few times to visit foreigners banged up and give them a few bits and bobs to help. Toiletries, cigarettes and books etc. The prison staff were helpful and I spoke to a few Brits and Americans. Most in on drug charges except a young Brit caught with stolen credit cards. Interesting experience and convinced me not to break Thai laws.
  9. A lot of Thais I speak to aĺso believe that the British are wealthier than Americans because they get 43 to the pound compared to only 34 to the dollar.
  10. I agree. When people make life decisions they alone should be responsible for them. There are people in the UK with many children , claiming benefits for each and every one. They have made procreation a full time career.
  11. Apologies if this is the wrong forum. Mods move if so. I have just listend to this discussion and found it very interesting . Others might also. Covers many of the issues we are grappling with today from the the economic standpoint ( good history on this ) to the rise of Trump and possible war with China. I don't feel qualified to comment on any of this but anyone who does want to stick their boot in ....... knock yourselves out.
  12. When he's coherent.
  13. Thailand. The hub of brake failures.
  14. Upskirting has moved to the next level. He would probably let her get on an escalator first too. What a gent !
  15. That's a few hours Googling to get a general picture. But even though they now have the world's biggest navy , the terrain of Taiwan favours defense with rugged mountains dividing the west coast from the east. In addition there are not too many beaches available to anyone making a seaborne assault. Assault by air would take large numbers of airborne troops whose aircraft would be very vulnerable to Taiwans anti aircraft defense. The Taiwanese love the liberty they enjoy compared to the Chinese mainlanders under the thumb of the CCP. They will fight hard to retain it. On paper at least it looks like a foolhardy gamble.
  16. I don't think it would rally the country behind the CCP since it would be an unnecessary act of aggression rather than anything to do with defending China. Sanctions against Russia have not worked well because Russias chief exports are its natural resources. These are controlled by a few oligarchs. China is different. It's chief exports are manufactured goods. If there were sanctions against China it would really hurt the millions of manufacturers that produce these goods and there would be a huge resentment against the CCP which could easily snowball and topple Xi.
  17. Given the way things have been going in Ukraine and Gaza , Taiwan should feel that the threat from China is diminishing rather than increasing. If powerful countries with land borders to weaker countries they want to attack are not finding things a cake walk , then surely China must realize that an amphibious assault , across a very wide straight , against an entrenched enemy that has had many years to work on its defenses ,must be a certain recipe for disaster.
  18. I passed through from London at 3.30 pm on the 28th September . All the desks were fully manned and the queue at each deask was not more than 10 people ahead of me. I was through in about 10 minutes. Only carrying hand luggage so straight through to the train downstairs and was at Phya Thai 30 minutes after leaving immigration behind me. Pretty good. I think the fare into town was 50 baht if I remember correctly.
  19. And chopsticks , don't forget the chopsticks.
  20. No problem. They have Bob Smith to vouch for them. Sorted....no charges.
  21. I was young and single and lived in the city getting on 20 years. Back then Lad Prao was the suburbs and it was a new road surrounded by fields. Got married and went to live in the burbs at Bang Bua Tong Nonthaburi for another 10 years. Then as another poster says, the city caught up. Westgate got built and the electric rail came. The canals went from green to black, traffic jams got bigger, crime increased. Finally we moved to the provinces , built a home and resumed a quiet peaceful life together. Where you are going to be happy living depends on your age and relationships. A young single guy would find where I live hell, and visa versa.
  22. Seriously, considering your limited experience, get the best insurance money can buy and get a will drawn up and leave it with someone you trust. Apart from that , happy Russian Rouletting.
  23. Buddha was making a trunk call to another temple branch. Forgot to leaf the door open and got trapped. Took a hundred years for people to twig it and find him.
  24. It was devine intervention that set it on fire in the first place
