  1. I remember Naam. Met her in a bar on Soi 22. Lovely gal. She loved money and she had no issues with debt. Just like America.
  2. Yes it's very sad, it's truly pathetic, it's a completely broken system. The health insurance cost is ridiculously expensive and if you don't have it, often times you do have to skip treatment because the cost is so insane. He had a choice of getting an implant, but at $5,000 that's only for the those that have significant savings, or great insurance. America is great? I don't think so. Let me count the ways she has failed her people and the world.
  3. The best chance any man has is to really be patient and really take his time. The woman is usually going to push to move things forward because she has an agenda, and the man always has to push back. If you're not willing to be patient, if you're not willing to abide by my timeline then I'm just going to walk. Always remember, time is your ally, if it's good it's only going to get better if there are problems they're going to manifest themselves over time. So man up and take your time. Don't allow her to conduct the train, don't allow her to set the timetable, don't allow her to push you. Always be willing to walk, plenty more fish in the sea, especially here.
  4. I think most people who have high self-esteem, combined with respect for the environment would never consider tossing a piece of trash. It's just a huge lack of respect for the environment, the nation, and ones self in my opinion. And yes this includes cigarette butts thrown out the window, or throwing on the ground, it's a filthy habit. But then again it's so is smoking cigarettes so I guess they go hand in hand.
  5. Nearly anything that can be accomplished with an agent can now be accomplished directly at the immigration office using one of the immigration officials. They are nearly all for sale, they are all on the take, so all you have to do is explain your situation and ask them what are the fees involved, and they will give you a quote very happily. I have done this first hand and it is a fact.
  6. This guy must be a much greater moron than he appears to be. Within his own nation they limited the minimum wage hike to a paltry few baht a day and he's encouraging other members to raise their minimum wage? What planet is this guy living on? This is the hazard that is involved with having an ivory tower type leading the nation. This guy has no idea what the average Thai person is dealing with. To call him out of touch would be such an understatement.
  7. What's really astonishing to me is the number of economists and traders who really don't take the debt into account, they just figure it's part of the deal, and it's not really going to affect anything at any point in time. I think it's going to cause the whole house of cards to come crashing down at some point.
  8. I use the AC a lot too, it filters out a tiny bit of particulate matter but not much. Get a very good air filter with a very large filter unfortunately the replacement units and filters are typically quite expensive, but that's just the nature of the beast. It is money well spent. Especially in the land of do nothing politicians, who make a lot of promises and are then completely devoid of action and follow up. Not real men.
  9. There are few things in life that are as satisfying or is fulfilling as greatly disappointing a bank manager.
  10. Definitely not the traditions, the traditions just don't mean much to me. I would say number one would be Hong Kong style pan fried noodles with seafood!
  11. You should date for a minimum of 2 to 3 years before even moving in together, and perhaps add another year or two on to that before you consider getting married. There are just too many variables, there's so many things about her that you don't know at this point Until you've spent thousands upon thousands of hours with her you really don't know who she is. Time is your ally not hers, use it.
  12. There are some very good dentists here in Thailand. In the last several years I had a bridge installed, a couple of root canals, a few crowns and an implant, and the work was fantastic. The implant cost 40,000 baht in America it is $5000. The crowns cost 9000 baht, in America they're $1500. The root canals were 9000 baht, in America they're $1800. Dentistry and medical in the US is bordering on absolute silliness when it comes to pricing.
  13. Yes you definitely let us all down, never say no to a shower and a rub down from two beautiful nurses. That should be a lifelong rule. You will like the regret this for many years to come.
  14. Thank you for such an articulate and well thought out reply.
  15. Is this an admission on the part of the government that this is all that a Thai life is worth? Why such leniency towards the owner of the factory? Is he going to be prosecuted, is he going to face any jail time?
  16. What on earth was this moron doing on a train crossing? How do you get stuck on a train crossing, did his truck stall, did he run out of gas, what on earth happened? Typically truck drivers have skills, and situational awareness. They are capable of causing massive destruction if they don't exercise those qualities. Obviously this guy didn't. Sympathies to the family of the train conductor.
  17. Yeah those dedicated home theaters are not very good, even when you spend 30 or 40,000 baht it's still not particularly good sound. I have a real home theater with a powerful Yamaha amp, front, rear, and surround Canadian speakers, high-end speaker wires and a top end 12-in subwoofer along with a huge center speaker. And a 77 inch OLED TV. It cost me over 400,000 baht, but it was worth it was worth. It it's incredible and the sound is amazing. The dialogue is super clear.
  18. Yes I suppose the police would be the ones required to enforce the laws, or perhaps a regulatory agency of some sort, but first there has to be political will and right now there is none. Sretta is a big talker and a born salesman, and he's got that $800 million smile that he thinks is all he needs. But we need performance, we need action, and as everyday passes by, his height seems to be shrinking, and he seems to become a smaller and smaller man with his extreme lack of action. Looks like at this point he may be comparable to Samak in terms of being a grossly inferior PM, and an enormously terrible leader, and a huge tragedy for Thai Society.
  19. The Israeli lobby is simply too powerful and they spend too much money in the US. It's virtually impossible for Israel to lose American support, and Netanyahu seems to know that, so he keeps pushing and pushing. Fortunately his popularity at home is incredibly low, a recent poll show that only 15% of Israelis want to see him continue leading after this war is over, so hopefully he'll be ousted and sent into oblivion very soon. He's the last man in the world that should be leading Israel right now.
  20. Well I can only speak for myself, I do have a life, I have a very good life. I do rage on this forum occasionally, but I would never describe myself as an outraged netizen, I don't take this stuff very seriously and I'm mostly posting just for fun, and the sort of camaraderie that comes with interactions with other guys on this forum, many of whom are very intelligent and articulate, so speak for yourself. Ha!
  21. Absolutely correct, and it could be PR on the part of this desperate administration, as they are accomplishing absolutely nothing, and they probably realize that they're failing to a dramatic extent, with virtually everything that they touch. The air is a very serious issue and it needs to be addressed, but it needs to be addressed with seriousness and competence, and there's not a nanogram of any of that to be found in this current failed administration.
  22. The vast majority of the pollution here is generated locally, and I would guess at least 60% of it is from sugarcane burning. The sugarcane farmers and the refiners need to be punished, the refiners need to be punished severely, but there's no political will to do that as they are huge agri corps. The other issue is that Sretta probably ranks up there with Samak (remember his cooking show?) in being the extreme bottom of the barrel in terms of talent and ability to lead the nation. They could not have picked a worse candidate at this point in time.
  23. I had the same issues 15 years ago in Los Angeles and I went to a doctor, had chest x-rays, blood panels and other work done to determine if I had any serious lung ailments. Everything came back negative and he said I think you're developing an allergy to pollution. I said I've never had allergies in my life he said as you get older you develop allergies so I think the only solution for you is to invest in some very serious air filters not the cheap ones, the ones with the large filtration units. I did so, and most of my symptoms that I have been wrestling with for years disappeared within 48 hours. So you can try that, or move from where you are.
  24. Sorry the system is acting up again and gave me those bizarre 10-second warnings and ended up posting this five times
