Pretty much anywhere. Phuket is a sh*th*le.

Little to no benefit. In the Thai climate, much better to put in an uninsulated radiant heat barrier. I did this in a place in the Philippines and it was actually cool in the attic and the top floor was significantly cooler than before installation. This is now the standard construction technique in the hot southern US states.

Where would you retire -- if money wasn't an issue?
gargamon replied to gargamon's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I don't think a few million would be able to cover that. You and Elon. I'm sure I know what the two of you would be doing... -
US debt ceiling: Will there be enough time to get a deal through?
gargamon replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Intelligent voters will know it's the right wing republican lunatics that caused the default. That obviously rules out most republican voters. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
gargamon replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
You expected it to be different than the previous 3 iterations? That's like watching Fast X and saying you didn't like it because of all the fast cars. -

Cryptocurrency: Treat investing as gambling
gargamon replied to Stocky's topic in Cryptocurrency News
Remember “The Tortoise and the Hare“? Investing is like that. The Hare, of course, will be gambling investing in things like crypto, NFTs, or even individual stocks. The Tortoise will have his investments in things like index mutual funds or ETFs. I'm proud to have been a Tortoise since I began investing in the mid-80s. Averaging over 10% a year for almost 40 years, while spending only an hour or two every year dealing with my investments. You do the math. I even stopped contributing when I retired in 2000. Sure there have been some down years, but in the long run those have been more than covered by the market rebounds in the subsequent years. Definitely can't say that with the Hare's investments. -

When I first started coming to Thailand around 2000 or 2001 it was wonderful. All the women were slim. None of them had fake breasts. It sure has gone downhill. -
Trump re-election not just possible, but likely.
gargamon replied to Social Media's topic in World News
You have bought into the propaganda haven't you. Hunter's laptop is right up there with all the other republican nonsense they spout when an election is upcoming. Remember: Benghazi: nothing burger Clinton's emails: nothing burger Fast and furious: nothing burger Twitter papers: nothing burger I'm sure I missed a bunch. What about the other way? Iran-Contra: guilty Nixon: resigned in disgrace Clinton impeachment: reelected in landslide The H. Biden saga will be the same. Just drink the kool-aid. I tire of the nonsense- 64 replies

ATM fees for foreign Cards -
gargamon replied to kwilco's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
The branch I had been doing counter withdrawals at for years stopped when their electronics were “upgraded“ to a new system that couldn't accept debit cards. No amount of pushing could get it to work. I moved all my accounts to k-bank and now use wise to transfer money to those accounts. Basically costs the same as the counter withdrawal. And it takes only a few seconds for the money to appear. -
Stark warning over Republicans’ ‘dehumanizing’ rhetoric on crime

Prisons are big business in many locales. Just another way for the republicans to suck money out of the system.- 40 replies

You have a doctor's prescription for all those, do you? Not from a reputable doctor I would bet.

gargamon replied to Scott's topic in World News
Just curious. Which one is the biggest (not size wise) liar? Santos or Trump? -

Get master-pdf-editor, version 4.3.89. Newer versions have a watermark on edited docs. May I suggest that after you've installed it you “pin“ it with apt or synaptic so it doesn't get flagged for upgrade. Please note this is for linux. Windows? Sorry. I don't do windows.

https://torrentfreak.com/best-vpn-anonymous-no-logging/ I had nordvpn for about 5 years. While it's ok for things like changing your location for geolocated streaming it is lacking when torrenting a low seeded torrent due to lack of port forwarding which is needed to fully use the torrenting protocol. I went with torguard which is also torrentfreak's top choice. About $60 USD for 3 years. Had issues with it initially but their support cleared it up quite quickly via exchanging a few emails. They gave for free a fixed IP that normally costs more than the VPN service.
