  1. Thousands of deep-sea octopuses gather on the flanks of a seamount off California’s coast. But until recently, scientists weren’t sure why these otherwise solitary animals were congregating. New research suggests they are seeking warmth to help their babies hatch more quickly. The Davidson Seamount’s “Octopus Garden” was discovered in 2018, when researchers onboard the Ocean Exploration Trust research vessel Nautilus were exploring a rocky spot on the seafloor that was about two miles below the surface. The team spotted a pair of octopuses through a camera on a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), says Amanda Kahn, an ecologist at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and San Jose State University, who was on the Nautilus that day. After observing the pair for a bit, the operators started to lift the ROV off the rocks to move on—until they saw something unusual. “Up ahead of us were streams of 20 or more octopuses nestled in crevices,” Kahn says. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-hot-secret-behind-a-deep-sea-octopus-garden/

  2. And I thought it was due to their low intelligence and lack of advanced education.
  3. Yes. Whites with the only thing going for them being the color of their skin are having a hard time.
  4. Actually I believe this is only the case for photo tickets. I don't know of any county that makes the vehicle owner responsible for an in person ticket.
  5. Thanks. It's always good to know how things work. I guess Thailand is attempting to get closer to the first world. Would a ticket for a 1 week expired license also be charged to the owner? The cop was a bit miffed I wouldn't give him the payola.
  6. That implies that the owner/renter of the vehicle is responsible for the tickets of whoever is driving the vehicle. Correct?
  7. Tax/insurance for renewing your license plate? If only renting then no problem?
  8. Clearly, if the scenario is as described, the moto driver is at fault as he (she) attempted to pass a parked truck without making sure it was clear.
  9. This is news? There was an incident in China maybe 10 years ago where they were taking an elevator out of service. They sent it to the lowest level and disabled it. Turns out they forgot to check and some lady was still in the elevator when they shut it down. Months later they found the body. Now that's news. Hell of a way to go.
  10. Well one good thing is that most of them will go to the southern areas where the Muslim population is higher.
  11. Good christians. Now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
  12. About time. That area needs it's own NATO equivalent.
  13. No matter how well you look after yourself, there will come a time when you will need the help.
  14. So when you die and get buried, if they don't get paid every year they dig you both up and send you to the landfill?
  15. Hardly. If he took the 400 million his father gave him in the 60's and invested it in the s&p 500 he would be worth much more than the paltry billion he's worth now. And he wouldn't be facing prison in multiple indictments.
  16. But they're spending so much on juliani's defence that there won't be any left. Oops, looks like juliani has been hung out to dry and he's almost broke. Trump only pays legal fees for co-indicted people that he's trying to stop from flipping.
  17. Please stop quoting him. Even though I've blocked him your quote shows the useless drivel.
  18. Obviously forgot to take “How to not get Scammed 101“
  19. Go hide under your bed. Life is dangerous. Nobody gets out alive.
  20. Of course chatgpt is biased towards the left. After all, it is trying to portray the truth. Not much of that from the right.
  21. Except for carrying stuff around. The step through click wins every time.
  22. My initial post in this thread was also about the Kuwaiti running into a pole. Blame the divergence on @moonlover who tried to change the direction. Oh, and I've ridden a Forza. Nothing special there.
  23. Having owned more than 50 motorcycles, many of them over 1000cc, I may have a different viewpoint than most on here. Please quantify your experience or lack thereof.
  24. Of course. You can kill yourself walking down the street and tripping too. My point is it's much easier to kill yourself on a big bike than a scooter. Especially when you're not used to the almost unlimited power.
