  1. I am not sure why some posters think that the number of days overstay is important. At the end of the day, that is the law. Same in every country that has visitors on visas. A bit like DUI? It does not matter how drunk you are, it is the fact that you are drunk and over a legal limit.
  2. No, they go round knocking on doors and ask to see the passports and TM 30 reports. The area is mainly holiday villa rentals with a smattering of private houses. Almost 100% foreigners. Easy pickings for Immigration police.
  3. And any registered money lender will have to report the transaction to the relevant authorities.
  4. Immigration trawl the area where I live regularly looking for illegals and overstays. Luckily, it is regularly and not frequently. That is why we have to keep the TM 30 reporting up to date.
  5. Duh - wrong. This from a post on 18th February. That flight had water spray back then as well. I guess that TAT did not realise that they had been landing here for a while.
  6. RIP young man. Unusual, most drownings are when the water is rough and there are rips on Chaweng beach. Water looks pretty calm at the moment. Speedboats going to KPN all night long to the FMP.
  7. Try this site? https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Manky
  8. For any pain in the chest please go and see a doctor. My wife has a slight pain, went to bed and never woke up. She was only 55 and exercised regularly.
  9. This whole pot debacle just proves Anutin's lack of good judgement. And he wants to be PM? Mind boggling.
  10. So the PM has very low standards.
  11. There is no bridge at the moment and there is no definite plan to build one. There is a request for the bidding process to start. That is all. Then again, maybe no one wants to bid or maybe it will fail the environmental impact assessment. Personally, I do not expect to see a bridge to Samui in my lifetime. The estimated completion date of the electrical project is 2029 and that is only if they start the project now. Not some time in the future. Last New year's Eve, there was a major power outage in the north east of the island, caused by heavy demand. Transformers were exploding one after another all along the roads. Quite a few 5* hotels lost a lot of money over that outage. Their comments to the government departments responsible are probably not printable. Part of the local infrastructure in that area has already been upgraded to cater for additional power. Samui needs more electricity (and water) now.
  12. The owner of the van is Russian and he lent it to his Ukrainian friend. ???? Lots of Russians and Ukrainians are friends and some are even in the same family. It's just a location problem. That is why many do not want to kill each other.
  13. If that is a photo of actual canal, they do not stand a chance on finding the poor mite. ????
  14. I expect that my neighbours and I are paying for it. Electricity where we are is currently 9 baht per Kw/hr and that is before the latest price increase that is due soon. At least some of the taxes that I have been paying for the last 22 years are now being spent on Samui.
  15. Yes - greed is accelerating. I found Bank of Ayudhaya to be better than all booths in my area. https://www.krungsri.com/en/exchangerate/Todayrates U.S.A. 16. You should fill in a TM 30 and take to the local Immigration office. The hotel will do this for you and the landlord should if it is a rental, but some landlords are lazy (or just avoiding paying tax on the income).
  17. Come on guys - homeless people need nooky too.
  18. Congratulations Rooster. A much needed boost for you after your recent tribulations. 'Live long and prosper'.
  19. I do not break the law either. That is why I gave them the UK address but I also informed them that I was living overseas. The bank have both my UK address and my overseas address and seem to handle that one well. New bank and credit cards go to the UK address and spam and circulars sometimes come to my Thai address. ????
  20. I also told the pensions people that my main residence was based overseas, so whilst they see a UK address, I do not receive the UK additional benefits. (I do not really need a heating allowance ????)
  21. Slightly off the main subject, but I broke even with solar in less than three years. (Thirteen panels.) BUT - I pay 8 baht per unit for electricity. I do not have batteries, just turn the meter back during the daylight hours. I run the pool from 09.00 to 17.00. Always clear. I usually only use a/c in the bedroom at night for a couple of hours during March and April. Fans on 24/7 - no a/c in the living area. Four fridges and three computers.
  22. I have a UK address and phone number and my pension is paid into my UK bank account. I have lived here for over 20 years. I have never had to fill in a POL form.
  23. Message from Lomprayah tonight. Due to bad weather, ferries to Koh Tao and KPN leaving from Nathon tomorrow. NOT Maenam (Pralarn pier).
