I agree with, I think it was Woody Allen who said, "I'm not affraid of death, but I don't want to be there when it happens".

Not correct.. If its brought into Thailand the year it is earned.. it IS taxable..
They clearly list pension income as being taxable if you are here >180 days a year. Its then up to you to sort out your non residence with the UK (which comes with other issues on pension increase freezes).
Pension income remitted to Thailand in the year it is is given is taxable in the Thai tax code.
If you pay tax on a UK income, you cannot, repeat, cannot be taxed on that same income in Thailand. It is against the double taxation treaty between the 2 countries

As the UK has a double taxation treaty with Thailand. UK income is taxed by the UK HMRC and therefore tax cannot be taken by the Thai tax office. Equally income earned in Thailand cannot be taxed by HMRC.

Taking into account how relatively poorly the economy is doing, the rising unemployment numbers (despite the protestations from official channels), the decline in quality tourism (most zero baht Chinese tourists do not count, as they contribute so little to the local economy), and capital outflows, one would have expected it to fall to 38-40 to the dollar by now. Something is propping it up.
With my outflows, could it be me?

I renounced my British citizenship and still claim my state pension though I did have 48 full years tax & NI contributions,
I don't believe citizenship has anything to do with the pension it is purely down to how many years NI contributions you have paid.
Citizenship however is another matter if he is a British citizen he would be entitled to live in the UK though why he would want to is beyond me especially with the evil witch they have in charge now and all the problems Brexit is going to bring.
Would you care to expand on the problems Brexit will bring. To my knowledge no one knows what problems will arrise, as Article 50 has not been invoked as yet. Therefore no negotiations have started.

I fear that if he has no record(s) on contribution for N.I (National Insurance) contributions he will not be eligible for a U K state pension.
The DWP will have any records.

Thai Public Transport drivers drunk. Thats not exactly news to most of us is it?
I wasn't driving, my mate was, but he has done a runner. Seriously? And I don't know his name. Classic.
In total contradiction to what the witnesses said.
The only thing that puzzles me is why the Police didn't apparently breathalyse him immediately.
One does not have to search too hard to see why Thailands roads are the second most dangerous in the world.
We all also know they do not like being second!

I am sure you will find that any continuous stay of 182 stay will entitle you to the pension increase. I also believe an increase can be claimed for any length of stay over 28 days, but will stop on leaving the UK. What that means is the increase may be paid only for the time you spend in the UK, but will revert to the original amount on leaving. It is also up to you to inform the DWP of your time of arrival and departure. None of this is proven fact, so should be checked via the international pensions office. What I can say is, I claimed the increase for 5 weeks back in 2015 with no problems, other than informing the DWP of the dates I was resident.

I seem to remember reading somewhere on here a while back that you can be liable if you kill or injure someones dog.
Had this problem in Singapore way back when they pulled down all the Kampongs and evicted the people who left their dogs behind, we found that a squeezy bottle (bicycle water bottle) with plain water in it would send them running off, maybe it will work for Thai dogs as well, worth a try.
Quite agree Rimmer. one thing dogs here do not like is, is being sprayed with water. I've taken to carrying a small water gun on my walks and find it works quite well if the dog seems aggressive. I always carry a stick but sometimes this is not enough of a deterrant.

Useless helmets, useless police and useless education. Until they are taught to think for themselves and not what to think, nothing will change. The law to make helmets compulsory was introduced years ago, but only in Bangkok? It then became nationwide, but how many do we see daily riding without helment, within Bangkok and elseware? Until such time as these people learn how to use the brains they were born with, again, nothing will change. But we love it really because its Thainess!

If the tests were anything like the test for my 7year old car this year, they would all pass with flying colours. The guy checked the lights, the tyre on the off side rear, and the brake fluid level, that was it, good for another year. Why do they bother if this is all that is done?
-
Lack of thought for other people. i,e. I can't be bothered to walk the extra steps, I will not park my car in the sun, or of course the usual, it suits me so stuff you.

The point here is, had th OP tried to register a car in his home country, proof of address would be required. Whats different?
