Electric Vehicles in Thailand
josephbloggs replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Your last sentence is nonsense. EV owners prefer them over ICEs because they are far superior in nearly every respect: performance, comfort, technology, simplicity and running costs. That is the only reason they prefer them. If something better came along (like what?) I don't see any EV owner sticking with EVs. But what else is coming along that can compete? It's certainly not hydrogen. I came across this article today, Oh dear. Class action lawsuits pending against Toyota by people sucked in by their hydrogen misinformation. https://insideevs.com/news/708375/toyota-mirai-hydrogen-stations-close/#:~:text=Several owners have gone as,50 miles just to refuel. -

No problem buying American products? American / Western propaganda works, you are a walking talking example. Sad really. -

TM30 Registration (Sorry)
josephbloggs replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As I have just done this for our house in my wife's name, we just needed ID card and blue book (tabien bahn). So I imagine it would be the same for you. You need to upload these during the initial registration stage (see my posts above). Once your property is registered to be somewhere that can receive foreign "guests" you can then move on to the actual filing of a TM30 for yourself. -

Do you think Gabriel Brindusescu decided to research and do an article on solid state technology, he independently contacted Toyota for information, dug in on their research, weighed it up and wrote an article? Or did Toyota release a PR piece which he lapped up and reworded? You do know how the press works, right? Most of these publications are fed press releases. Oh, and by the way, Autoevolution gives his bio: "When it comes to car preferences, he will tell you that classic cars are the best, especially old American muscle. There are few modern day cars that get him really excited, and don’t ever dare to ask him about hybrids or EVs if you don’t want to see him mad excited." It's not you is it?? -
TM30 Registration (Sorry)
josephbloggs replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks. Actually that didn't work but you did steer my attention in the right direction. I needed to give both documents a name by typing in these boxes. Seems to have worked now. Woo hoo!! Thanks for the help! -
TM30 Registration (Sorry)
josephbloggs replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I am registering my wife (Thai) as the owner of the house. I assumed my documents will go in the next stage when she does the actual TM30 - this is just registering an account on the system. Unless I'm wrong? -

Ok, thanks, so a glimer of hope is out there. Otherwise it is a trip to CW on Monday which I'd rather avoid. -
TM30 Registration (Sorry)
josephbloggs replied to josephbloggs's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thanks. So that means you did somehow get it working eventually? -
Hi all, I have searched the forums and read many TM30 threads but am stuck. I arrived in Thailand on a 90 day non O and plan to do a 12 month extension of stay at CW in a couple of months. I live in Bangkok with my wife and kids in a house in my wife's name. I am trying to register her on here - https://tm30.immigration.go.th/tm30/#/external/security/register/reg-web - so she can file a TM30. I fill it out, I've uploaded her ID and tabien bahn but get an error that says "no data or insufficient data" when I try to register. Maybe it needs more documents as it looks like they expect three but I don't understand exactly what they mean. What should there be? There is no business license or lease agreement as this is our house. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Did you know this about 7-Eleven (Thailand)?
josephbloggs replied to george's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yeah, I don't understand it either, but it is credit cards only, no debit cards. They also accept True Money, Ali Pay and a couple of others, but no Thai QR code scans, no debit cards. It's the only annoying thing about 7. -

josephbloggs replied to george's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Thai 7-Elevens are fantastic. The product lines keep expanding and you can get some seriously nice stuff in there these days. The stores are all clean, well stocked, and the staff must be the best trained in Thailand. Viva la 7!! They have come such a long way in the last 15 years or so. My only gripe is the lack of payment options: no debit cards, no banking app QR scan payments; 7-Elevens are the only reason I carry cash these days and it is a bit annoying. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Sorry but that channel has absolutely ZERO credibility. It is full of lies, misleading videos, and even fake edits. As JB mentioned, they are repeating clips in reverse, they are showing cars in ports that are neither Chinese nor EVs, you can believe absolutely nothing that they claim. The last time I tried to watch one of their videos was about Chinese EVs constantly exploding - they had a compilation that a rabid anti China poster here posted. The very first clip they said was a Chinese EV exploding as it was being charged. In fact it was not a Chinese car, it was not being charged, it was not even an EV! It was a VFX stunt from a movie set! Another one posted here had a shouty headline (as they all do on that channel) that Chinese brands are DUMPING CARS IN FIELDS just to keep sales numbers up and they had video footage! Unfortunately if you looked closely they were all taxis and it turns out they belonged to a ride sharing company that had gone bust. Lies lies lies. So their agenda is clear and they can't be trusted. China Observer is owned by Vision Times / Kanzhongguo, a Falun Gong funded anti Chinese organisation. Vision Times published a report that doctors recovered from COVID-19 by reciting the nine sacred words of Falun Gong and also that Chinese political leaders were interested in eating human brains. I know you didn't post it as factual, merely interesting, but please be aware that it is a clearly anti Chinese channel that has been caught publishing lies countless times. All their videos are fudged. Zero credibility. What saddens me is reading the YT comments, all brain dead, propaganda loving, anti Chinese morons that will believe anything they're told. I mean, look at their channel, they don't even try to pretend it isn't click bait. On to your point, there is currently an issue in Europe of cars not being moved out of ports quickly enough but the shipping companies put this down to a shortage of trucks and drivers and it is affecting all imports, not just Chinese cars. The Chinese, however, are at a disadvantage as hauliers prioritise regular clients, rather than new ones. There is a good balanced article in the Financial Times about this issue with no shouty yellow and red ALL CAPS headlines and no fake videos. Edit: Seems @Pib posted at the same time and included the FT link - he's more generous than me. -
Buying/Owning a sports or premium car in Thailand
josephbloggs replied to Startmeup's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Spot on. If I was a billionaire I would have a fleet of premium high performance cars - not because I want to show off, just because I love high end cars. It's only the bitter and jealous people who say they make no sense. I can get a burger in McDonalds. I can also go to a 5-star restaurant. Both will fill me up and in both cases I will need to eat again tomorrow so people can argue having the nice meal was pointless. Exactly the same. Enjoy what you can while you can. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
josephbloggs replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
It's only a concept and unlikely to make production. Concepts are always outlandish. Odd looking but would be very practical with the wheels right in the corners. Better looking than the horrendous Cybertruck, but that's not saying much. Quirky if we're being kind. I expect it would be massively toned down if it ever does go into production. The iCar V23 is a production model though and does look very practical and no where near as weird. -
What??? Did you watch it? Explain how he is playing tough guy, please. He is driving slowly and then comes to a stop a distance from the pedestrians. Is that your idea of a "tough guy"? Are you just another poster who automatically takes the foreigner's side no mater what? (You don't need to answer that).
