I think poor Thais are happier than most Westerners. They live with less but less stress too. I remember seeing a survey that talked about Norway, Finland etc being the happiest countries - but the cited education levels and medical care - they really didn't talk about happiness.
At the time I was in Hua Hin - the Skandis were on vacation walking around stone faced - and the Thai motorcycle taxi drivers who had nothing were laughing and playing with each other - having fun.

Even some of my 'smart' friends - I don't really need to hear their opinions... especially the repetitive ones.

I do all sorts of maneuvers, long steps, left, right, jumps, little splits... swim a little - never put my head under water.. not sure why anyone would, can't breathe under there.
I don't know how this works but things grow easily here. If you can cut a sprig and stick it in the ground, you are welcome to it... I am in Doi Saket area.
