I was first here in. 1974... been here FT since maybe 1998... but I am mostly w/Thai people... and I just want to be able to give him some feedback... I am afraid that as it is for many - with a limited income, the smaller it gets, the more it may make sense to be here... in that, with a very small income, you will likely be out on the streets in the USA... while here you can get a decent small apartment for much less...

I know this is very individual - How much would you say that the average retired expat has in monthly income and savings? My guess was that most people have incomes of USD $1,500 - $2,000 a month... and maybe $50-$100,000 in reserve? And I do not know his situation other than he is not wealthy...

my niece's father was a cross country distance runner and her mom is a sprinter... but nobody really cares ok just kidding - my kid is half Burmese and probably nobody knows. my experience is that people are much more judged individually than by race... have seen this over and again.

I would expect the level of service to be as you hope only if you give them an exclusive on the listing, which with the way it works here is probably not a good idea. Back in your home country, they probably have multiple listing services... here it is a bit more wild west - - when buying, the agent seems to stay out of it, which I came to like, and the owners who can answer all questions, do the showing of the property... Nothing turns me off more than an agent exhilarating "This is the kitchen!!!!! And look, look, there is an oven!!!!"

He works? sounds like a keeper to me... just kidding but remember, even if you get him to submit with an arm bar, you will have to sleep sometime... please don't get physical... it is not likely to end well for you...

that is visible to your eye... do they not service both buyers and sellers seeking the property they want? Do they not have premises that they must lease and phone bills to pay and expenses incurred just to keep their doors open?

what is it you expect an agent to do? Seems most of their job is to bring you a customer/ or locate a property... then they assist w/the negotiation and help point you towards obtaining the proper documents to assist the sale...

actually, that happened today at Big C - - and I had about ten items... and he had fewer than me so I refused. And then after checkout the security guard very enthusiastically engaged me in questions, just the usual, where you from type stuff but then told me he liked foreigners... of course, this was all done in Thai.

How good is your Thai language ability? You can't really expect a 7/11 employee making minimum wage to understand you... There is also a language/cultural issue where some people feel it is impolite to answer w/a negative and might answer 'yes' to anything...

a 1 bedroom is not a studio... Then buy one w/a balcony - they are usually easy to spot... but 16 sq m. - you won't be able to get away from yourself...
