  1. I learned a long time ago from some fairly wealthy people: You don't get wealthy by throwing your money away. You get wealthy by making a lifetime of sound financial decisions. It's not a matter of "can you afford it," it's "are you stupid enough to allow yourself to be ripped off," i.e., "A Fool And His Money Are Soon Parted." Outside of the security zones in international airports where vendors literally have you by the cajones as far as extravagant prices, as long as their is a choice of vendors, I'm going to laugh in the face of the morons selling 15 THB worth of coffee for 80 THB and go find the affordable options.
  2. Easier to go to 7/11. 3 in 1 coffee costs maybe 15 THB and the packages are usually enough for two cup-fulls of the small cups they provide.
  3. Ah - now understood. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. My guess are that those in congress most vocal regarding USAID are those who are receiving the most kickbacks funded though NGO and other USAID corporate welfare recipients who funnel money back to these congress-critters campaign slush funds. I can't wait until DOGE takes up campaign finance reform and term limits.
  5. I'm absolutely flooded by Lefties who actually want tons of waste, fraud, and abuse instead of wanting a smaller government which is significantly less reliant on taxpayers and as well, who doesn't act like the world's sugar daddy while ignoring the domestic infrastructure, the welfare of its own natural born citizens, and sending hundreds of billions USD abroad when it can't even balance its own budget. So goodbye USAID and good riddance.
  6. Here's a perfect example of "none of your ******* business. I find it odd that the OP is known for posting "surveys" that attempt to scrap highly personal information. Come on man...really?
  7. Why do you care? Are you trying to overtake GammaGobulin for innocuous posts. Sorry - GG has you beat. Not bothering to answer as after 16 years of posting here you either know me or you don't. Either way doesn't make any difference to me personally.
  8. Thai Immigration, like all bureaucracies, is a PITA. I've met IOs who embody everything bad about bureaucrats. On the flip side, most of my interactions with IO are neutral to good. Larger offices tend to be larger bureaucracies and a larger PITA. Smaller offices, from my experience, have been easier to deal with, right down to knowing the names of the IOs. Unfair? No. Ridiculously stupid at times? Yeah.
  9. Translated: Economically decimate the middle and lower classes.
  10. A "must have" in our kitchen along with a stainless steel pressure cooker.
  11. Interesting. I never personally had any problems with Manila when sending email. Under your circumstances I'd suggest sending one more email, perhaps even an EMS letter with return receipt requested, keep a paper trail, and if you don't get a response within the timeframe listed on the Manila SSA website ([email protected]) then contact your Congressional representative in the US. Congressional reps have an ability to cut through bureaucratic red-tape.
  12. What will 400K quid buy you now in the UK. A 100 year old 2 bed, 1 bath, row house with bad plumbing?
  13. I'm laughing with the rest of the conservatives at the completely weak, impotent, and ineffectual temper-tantrum on the progressive Left. The Lefties have nothing left of substance other than to attempt to meme and to mock. Other than that they are out of ammo. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but AI pictures of Trump in diapers isn't going to have any effect on what's coming. Standby! Week 3 of DOGE and it's just getting entertaining.
  14. 1st Mexico now Canada. Tariffs on hold Like Game of Thrones - bend a knee and all is forgiven.
  15. EU Vows Strong Response to Trump’s Tariff Threats What are they going to do? Huff and puff and hold their breath until they turn blue? That'll show Trump!
  16. Signed documents or it's fabrication. Honestly, when a "rich" farang parties-hardy with a Thai gal, but keeps the relationship strictly boyfriend/girlfriend, and nothing is in writing - then it's just hearsay. It's not like they were married. Now I'd ask - if the Thai courts were in the same position, ie, a foreign woman lays claim to an inheritance of a Thai man when the sons of the deceased survive him, and there is no explicit will but just the heresay testimony by the girlfriend that her Thai sugar-daddy promised an inheritance - how would that work out? It's a rhetorical question, I know how it would work out.
  17. Trump keen to blame diversity and inclusion for Washington DC crash Could be, but I'll suspend judgement until the NTSB issues it's finding.
  18. Stay up to date on your boosters then. Safe and Effective!
  19. When I first arrived in Thailand eons ago..... ...but just found Thai Visa/AseanNow. These posts never fail to amaze me.
  20. I used to drive in the mountains on my Wave. You want to be able to shift on the steeps. Like the OP, I tend to be partial to geared motorcycles.
  21. Vaping: Dangerous, competes with Thai tobacco monopolies, and needs to be outlawed. Cigarettes: Perfectly safe, good for your health, and supports Thai tobacco monopolies.
  22. Hire long-stay farangs. We'll do the jobs Thais refuse to do!
