Quiet, affordable places to live near Pattaya?
Hanuman2547 replied to 4737 Carlin's topic in Pattaya
Fellow cyclist here. I like the areas of Bang Saray, Sri Racha, and Bang Saen. All nice areas. The Lake Mabprachan area might be nice for you as there is some good cycling right there. There are also a few farang cycling groups both mountain and road that cycle a lot in that area. -
I do know that adultfriendfinder and fetlife are worldwide groups so there must be something listed for Thailand.

Israel losing global support over Gaza bombing, Biden says
Hanuman2547 replied to CharlieH's topic in The War in Israel
Biden is still approving money to be allocated to Israel for the purchase of weapons and munitions. That in itself makes Biden guilty of war crimes when he knows that Israel will use them to kill and maim anyone in Gaza as well as the West Bank. -
Canadian man and Thai woman murdered in Khon Kaen

My condolences to you, and your husband over the loss of two friends. -
I only watched Mr. Ed because my older sister, who loved horses, made me. I liked Batman, F-Troop, and Gilligans Island. There were definitely a lot of very good American TV shows back then. I also liked I Dream of Jeannie not noticing at the time how HOT Barbara Eden was! Although not a comedy, one of my favourite TV shows is The Fugitive. A lot of big name actors had guest spots on that show.

I had heard more than 35+ years ago, that Thailand has three seasons: Hot, Hotter, and Hottest!

Where to go (for the people who've been everywhere already)???
Hanuman2547 replied to USslugga's topic in General Topics
That is quite the list and you have definitely travelled quite a bit around the Kingdom. There are definitely a few places you have not been too. In the interest of keeping those places fairly off the grid I shall not name them, hence they be overrun with mass tourism. -
I've been hearing this same old song for 40 years. Nothing has changed. It's the same old system with their top/down mentality for both students, teachers, and administrators.

I don't think that you can keep your flight from BKK to the west coast of the USA under 7 hours. Definitely can't on the return trip when it's even longer. As others have said, book a business class or Premium economy seat. That should help a lot. Personally. I prefer EVA and China Airlines with both going through Taipei.

Kanchanaburi Border Run
Hanuman2547 replied to Scoobydoo1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Always check to see if the Myanmar border is open for foreigners to cross into their country. Most of them right now are closed to land border crossings. -
A friend just did his at the Prachuab Khirikhan office yesterday. He had been at a hotel there for a couple of days. After checking out he went straight to the immigration office and applied for it. He said there were very few people there and was done in about 20 minutes. He applied for it after only having been in the country for 10 days. They just add the extension on to where the other one would have expired so he got his 60 days total.

No updates on health of convicted former PM Thaksin
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There most likely is nothing wrong with him medically speaking. Just been a big hoax to get preferential treatment. He needs to be returned to the prison he came from. -
There are a lot of talented Thai doctors practicing medicine in western countries. It's been that way since the 1970's. Most went on some type of scholarship or fellowship for advanced specialized training. When it came time to return to Thailand they just found an employer to support their application for residency. The old joke was where do you find the best Thai doctors? Try NYC, LA, London, etc.

Doubts over Thai target of 8.2 million Chinese visitors in 2024
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With a number of detractors going on right now, shooting at the mall fresh on their minds, wariness of the Chinese economy, fear of a global recession, and now the strengthening of the Thai baht to the USD these all put a damper on the Chinese tourists ability to travel outside of their country and specifically Thailand. -
Thai police arrest 11 Montagnards near Bangkok
Hanuman2547 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Not at all surprised by the Thai government action on this. They have been doing this for many decades now against numerous groups leaving the strife torn areas of their home countries. Of course, the UN isn't exactly expediting matters like this at all. They continue to work at a snail's pace while riding around in luxury vehicles, living in very expensive accommodations, and sending their children to very costly international schools.
