  1. ...and thankfully the UK has a parliamentary system with strict limits on campaign spending, Reform would need to win an election for Farage to be in power, it's not a presidential system. .
  2. There's no amount of money on Earth that would make Farage palatable to enough of the UK electorate to see him PM.
  3. Indeed, the Russian state propaganda outlets, and their trolls, have no shame whatsoever in spewing lies and misinformation. As for Canada becoming the 51st state, I doubt any sane Canadian would swap their universal healthcare system for the American 'equivalent'. .
  4. An awful lot can, and will, happen between now and August 15th 2029, the date at which a UK general election must be called if it hasn't already. Given the size of the Labour majority there's scant chance of an election being forced upon Labour, so they'll be able to choose their moment. In the meantime the Telegraph, Times, Mail and Express can froth at the mouth all they like.

    Fireworks

I love fireworks. We have a New Year's party and BBQ up on the roof every year. We can watch the main display in Hat Yai, without the crowds, as well as enjoy all the fireworks from around the city, and add a few of our own. .
  6. Yep, I've been here twenty years and not a scratch.
  7. Yes they do, they do use it, and no there was nothing in the spam box .
  8. No they don't. Few countries have such a large mineral resource endowment, and those countries have exploited most of their mineral resources, certainly the easily extracted ones. Greenland, together with Antarctica, represent virgin unexplored land. Remember, the recognised deposits listed are just the ones around the edges, 80% of Greenland is still covered by an ice sheet.
  9. (AI is your friend) Greenland Mineral Resources Greenland is rich in mineral resources. The country’s unique geology, shaped by millions of years of tectonic activity, has created a diverse array of mineral deposits. Here are some of the key mineral resources found in Greenland: Rare Earth Elements (REEs): Greenland is believed to have significant deposits of REEs, including neodymium, dysprosium, and samarium. The Kvanefjeld project, operated by Energy Transition Minerals Ltd, is one of the largest known REE deposits in the world. Zinc: Greenland has several zinc deposits, including the Kvanefjeld project, which also contains zinc. The country’s zinc resources are considered significant, with estimated reserves of over 1.5 million tonnes. Uranium: Although uranium mining is banned in Greenland, there are still significant uranium deposits, including the Kvanefjeld project. The country’s uranium resources are estimated to be around 368 million pounds (168,000 tonnes). Cobalt: Greenland has cobalt deposits, particularly in the Ilímaussaq alkaline complex, which is also rich in REEs. Nickel: The country has nickel deposits, including the Sarfartoq nickel-copper deposit. Iron ore: Greenland has significant iron ore deposits, including the Disko Bay iron ore project. Gold: There are several gold deposits in Greenland, including the Nalunaq gold mine, which operated from 2002 to 2015. Tantalum: Greenland has tantalum deposits, particularly in the Ilímaussaq alkaline complex. Niobium: The country has niobium deposits, often associated with tantalum and REEs. Lithium: Greenland has lithium deposits, including the Solo and Good Setting Lithium Projects in the James Bay region.
  10. I've had an account with Kasikorn for over 15 years, so far I've not received this form, and I'm not about to go to the bank looking for it.
  11. Unfortunately we have a lot of 'defence volunteers' in the south, I suspect many of them shouldn't be let anywhere near a firearm. During holiday periods, the city is full of Malaysian and Singaporean tourists up for Christmas and New Year, and on heightened alert, with many of these volunteers brought in to man check points and add extra security around town.
  12. Good to know they service the cable car. I've used it a couple of times showing visiting friends around Hat Yai.
  13. I got my TIN from the Hat Yai revenue office today. They were somewhat confused when I didn't have a work permit. After some explaining and about 15 minutes of the clerk looking on the internet, I got a nod of the head and my application was processed. I submitted a completed application form, copy of passport ID page and current extension, plus a copy of the TM30. Friendly office, no queues, no English spoken.
  14. Postponed until next year. Seems someone rethought the idea of starting this during the monsoon. But agreed, it will cause total chaos.
  15. I took a job in Malaysia 30 years ago, Thailand was where I came to do my visa runs, I got to like the place so it became home.
  16. Everything and anything
  17. Lordy, the clue is on the tin! Invest in iCon - errr no thanks.
  18. Not my experience. They accepted a bank statement as proof of address, and they've never demanded a certified copy of my passport. That's with HSBC Singapore. .
  19. And the fact we have 8.2 billion humans living on the planet now, 40% of which live in coastal regions.
  20. I'd certainly agree that anyone holding to this sort of dogma in the 21st century shouldn't be allowed to hold the office of President of the USA
  21. Geologist - metals exploration and mining, not oil, mainly gold, some diamonds, base metals and industrial minerals. Worked on projects in Africa, Asia, Russia, Europe and South America for various exploration and mining companies. Working as a consultant the last twenty years, in my mid sixties now, but still take on projects that interest me. It get's me out the house for a few weeks per year and keeps the brain sharp.
  22. Just about everything scan to pay with banking apps, big ticket items credit card, cash very seldom now. I only carry a few hundred baht in my pocket. .
