  1. https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-04-25-22/index.html Kyiv will remove Soviet-era sculpture commemorating "friendship" between Ukrainians and Russians, mayor says "This week we will dismantle a bronze sculpture of two workers, erected in 1982 'to commemorate the reunification of Ukraine with Russia,'" Klitschko said. "The eight meters of metal of the so-called 'friendship of two peoples' will be removed from the center of Kyiv." => smelt it into ammo I say
  2. Wordle 309 5/6 ⬜????????⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜???? ⬜⬜???????????? ????????????⬜???? ???????????????????? 5 tries ... and there was me thinking I'm inept ????
  3. assurances that are worth nothing. Russia has shown that it is not trustworthy, as it consistently ignores own promises.
  4. yes, they already made such objectives public, they want to link all the way to Transnistria. I wonder if Ukraine and Moldova should go together and perform a pre-emptive invasion attack (not an invasion, since Transnistria is a Moldovan territory occupied by Russia) there and restore Moldovan power in Transnistria.
  5. well yes, it's probable several countries currently have operatives helping the Ukrainian side. let's not forget Russia had and still has hundreds of assassins and saboteurs in Ukraine.
  6. because Germans have had their balls cut off in 1945. Germany has not been known ever since for ballsy moves, and Putin knows that. Putin knows that threatening Germany with "unforeseen consequences" and "escalation" would work to scare it off.
  7. I don't share that point of view. Russian forces are approaching Kryvyi Rih as well as Zaporizhiza and in the north make gains near Izyum - Severodonetsk. The status of Rubizhne has been unclear for a couple of days already. The Russians appear to make a double envelopment maneuver north and south around the eastern Ukrainian fortified line. This worries me, as I don't know if the Ukrainians are ready to counter or not, because a counter would not only require strong mobile forces on the flanks, but also a strong center capable to defend from 3 fronts in a cauldron-type of battle.
  8. I saw that , I thought it would have been a good place and timing for dropping a bomb.
  9. there shouldn't be a threshold. it's up to the store. customers spends big, gets a bag right away, customer spends small, but comes every other day, store presents him a reusable bag after 10 visits ... it's about marketing, not about rules. and about the last thing, you are wrong. I have seen plenty of customers going back to a specific venue to spend thousands just to get a little "free" trinket. just because it made them feel good. it's marketing. customers tend to go back to shops where they feel welcome and taken care of.
  10. it's not a question of "should", it's a question of customer profitability. a store should do its best to retain customers that are big spenders. not really rocket science. suprise surprise, in the business world, customers are not treated equally. next ...
  11. Wordle 307 4/6 ⬜⬜????⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜????⬜ ⬜⬜????⬜???? ???????????????????? easy. I'm surprised I solve so many because English isn't my first and not even my second language
  12. yesterday's news but still good ! I guess it's the consequence of VISA and Mastercard and most Western banks threatening to not work with Union Pay anymore if it had cooperated with Russia.
  13. Way to go, Latvia !! Latvia recognizes Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide, adopts law to strip citizenship for supporting war crimes. (link in Russian) The Latvian parliament, following Estonia, on April 21 approved a resolution calling Russia’s aggression and subsequent war crimes against Ukraine an act of genocide. Lawmakers also allowed revoking Latvian citizenship for people with multiple citizenships who support war crimes.
  14. anything about Ukraine that gets published in Russia and doesn't cause the author and/or the publisher to get at least a warning from Russian authorities can be considered fake news.
  15. okay, Romania won't be using their MiG-21 anymore: https://www.aviacionline.com/2022/04/romania-suspends-operation-of-its-mig-21-lancer-fighter-jets/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-21#Romania Today, only 36 LanceRs are operational for the RoAF. It can use both Western and Eastern armament such as the R-60M, R-73, Magic 2, or Python III missiles. They can use Western and Eastern armament.
  16. another thought I had was why missiles aren't used to deliver supplies to Mariupol. a tomahawk transports 450 Kg of payload. or bombs. with parachutes. could be launched from super high altitude and use guidance technology to precisely fall where needed - I don't know if Ukraines got the planes though.
  17. well, yes, they are mercenaries (all of them) in English language by the meaning of the word, i.e. hired soldiers, but mercenary is also a legal status defined by the UN, as well as by other countries which may or may not have the same definition as the UN, which means that some members of Wagner wouldn't be considered mercenaries if they are Russian or if their place of residence is Russia.
  18. your debate is ridiculous, as the definition of who is a mercenary is clear: Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions relating to the Protection of Victims of International Armed Conflict (1977), article 47 Article 47 of Additional Protocol I provides a definition of a mercenary. "A mercenary is any person who: Is specially recruited locally or abroad in order to fight in an armed conflict; Does, in fact, take a direct part in hostilities; Is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party; Is neither a national of a Party to the conflict nor a resident of territory controlled by a Party to the conflict; Is not a member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict; and Has not been sent by a State which is not a Party to the conflict on official duty as a member of its armed forces. These requirements are cumulative, which means that they must all be applicable for an individual to be categorized as a mercenary." https://www.ohchr.org/en/node/3383/international-standards
