Taxi Crashes into Ambulance at Phuket Intersection - VIDEO
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
You were faster. A lot of blame on the ambulance. Professional emergency drivers (firefighters, ambulance, police) in my country get a special education and permission to drive with siren/flashlight. And one of the lessons is: you can not simply drive full speed through a red light or violate other rules without care (driving opposite, driving on footpath etc.). Approach carefully and drive slowly through the intersection. -
Very true and our local Lotus is even worse. They threw out about everything that I bought in the past. For weeks they had a few of the last type of Ritter chocolate at full price on the shelf. White chocolate that no one buys. Haven't visited the shop in weeks.

Will government hospitals and offices be open on 1 May?
KhunBENQ replied to topswijaya's topic in General Topics
No. Regular post offices closed. From own experience and they are not government officers. No nice khaki color uniform with golden stripes ???? -

Of course emergency room never closed but still a chance that no regular outpatient treatment possible (doctors on call for urgent cases, mass accidents etc. like on weekends). -

KhunBENQ replied to topswijaya's topic in General Topics
Correct. It's not. "Labour day" is taken literally here, government officers are not "laborers". Regular post offices are closed e.g. Following the BoT website the main bank branches will also be closed. https://www.bot.or.th/English/FinancialInstitutions/FIholiday/Pages/2023.aspx And yes from May 4th all closed. Reopen Monday 8th. Immigration open on May 1st: (calendar published on immigration websites) -
90-day report (TM47)

Yes you are right! Maybe an error on the form. -
90-day report (TM47)
KhunBENQ replied to StayinThailand2much's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Nationality has to be selected from a drop down list. Arrival date is dd/mm/yyyy like the birthday (not US style). Address entry starts with Province (enter first two letters and then select from drop down), District and Tambon follow from that as drop downs. A mate managed to enter a wrong passport number with two characters added. -

You have sucessfully registered for the service with your email adr and got a password to login at: https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login The form as such shows all mandatory data marked with an asterisk (*). So it should be quite clear what to fill in. Which is your office? -
BigC in Khon Kaen has gone down steeply (for me). Was there on Thursday and it was kind of frustrating. Empty shelves, very few Casino stuff at ridicolous prices. Some cheese and cold cut stuff gone up to 100%. 30% is a mild increase. Udon Thani was better but I fear the longer drive and experience similar. BigC Extra in Pattaya is still a league of it's own compared.

She came to the accident site so at least not 500 km away? Just thinking. -
Tragic End: 14-Year-Old Youth Dies in Motorcycle Crash with Trailer Truck

No. His mother was crying and hugging the dead corpse. A bit late to care. (from the article in Thai) -
I just remember from one of my very rare (involuntary) visits at DMK (x years ago) that food/snack at landside was crowded and expensive. All I finally took was a lukewarm coke from a fridge for 50 Baht. I could not find a convenience store landside? (is there still something at the parking garage? Last checked before Suvarnabhumi opened). Funny enough: airside is considerably better. Some fast food and convenience stuff. My advice: get away as soon as possible. Tell your wife to bring a lunch packet

In the major population centers(?) DTAC coverage should be OK. And you get such DTAC SIMs at about every phone shop/booth. So no need to buy online like the one year packages. Cost about 200 to 300 Baht/month depending on speed (15 to 30 Mbit/s). 30 Mbit/s is more than good enough for HD videos and video calls. Make sure the SIM is being registered and activated for you. For DTAC it is possible to do online but a bit tedious.

I never order COD and will never pay a COD. Daughter still seems to do COD but is aware about the delivery and receives a call. Then takes care on her own. Funny enough: my goods often end up in a shop at the corner. I receive a "delivered" message and then pick it up sooner or later. I am bemused when a mate tells me he is waiting for his COD and getting angry when it does not come at the "usual time"

I had examples where Google spit nonsense in Thai and SayHi at least came close. Found one, it's from some article about electric vehicles. ชาร์จไฟบ้าน ไม่ง้อน่ามันแพง SayHi: Charging the house isn't expensive. Google: Charging at home. Don't reconcile. It's expensive. What is meant: charging at the house isn't expensive. With an "at the house.." SayHi would be fine. And Google is garbage, distorting. I should say that I always counter check with a paid Thai/German dictionary (splitting the words) with native speaker for all words.

Did you try the route on the Grab app? Hard to comment without knowing exact distance/route.

You think too much without knowing and should keep your language under control. -

No question. Response times are completely random. Depend on office, current workload or work organization. -

As from above post. Your assumptions are wrong. This is from my last approval. On the left the rank (Police Captain) of the (female) officer, on the right is Immigration Police Khon Kaen. (click on image for full size) Date of approval was Saturday March 4th at 10:12 AM. -

Yes, you find the name and rank of the officer on the approval (Thai script). And no, they go to your office. I usually wait one or two working days for approval. Once approval was done on a Sunday Saturday, Seems to me some on duty officer had time to waste and went through 90 day reports. -

Ok. Of course I won't try. With online working why should I try last minute. I always enter two weeks ahead. Four or five per year from the desk who cares. -

Call yourself lucky if it is confirmed. See post above, it should be done no later than a week ahead.
