  1. Failed to find an explanation. Even on the Thai site I found only the two syllables. Telegraphic Transfer is unlikely as their business is about the opposite of "TT".
  2. The poster did not state about a large sum (which I would consider upper 4 digit pounds). Go to the main branch of TT on 2nd rd and come back here if they have less than 5000 GBP in the drawer. T.T. Currency Exchange - Pattaya Headquarters: (2nd rd not far from South Pattaya rd.) https://maps.app.goo.gl/iE7FfDV77BRnCrKp6
  3. Is it a good idea to start a high speed chase for 1750 Baht? The station has CCTV cameras. Should be possible to identify the vehicle and the driver.
  4. Death sentence had been suspended for a long time. After X took reign there was one single execution of a young robber who murdered for an iPhone. But the number of inmates in death row is big. So expect that all three will take many years in prison.
  5. All who have followed the case know that they are German. Olaf the "big biker". Petra the impostor. Enrico aka Rico (German with Italian mother?) was a big mouthed ("can do all"/"no problem") visa agent who has scammed multiple clients. When an overstayer argued with him about lost money for nothing he reported him to immigration. Problem solved.
  6. I try to avoid overseas shopping as good as it can be seen. Ordered some dog collars. Took about 3 weeks. And it's the fake shop trick as known in other countries: local "shop" just links Alibaba or Temu scrap to his site fixing his own price etc. You can't see that it comes from China before you ordered.
  7. So I tell him to reduce to 500 and when I visit him next March I will drive him to the branch and close.
  8. A search didn't bring up a reliable answer. A friend has two Kbank accounts. He wants to empty one of them via internet banking and close. Sure he could go to his branch and close it officially (with paperwork). Due to his age and condition he would like to save this step. Can an account be emptied to last satang via online transfer or is there a minimum balance to retain? Will it then be closed automatically? Or just do try and error?
  9. The topic is about foreigners in the eyes of Thai. And like it or not but the "working girls" very often exclude Indian man for their behavior/treatment of women. Not so much about other nationals. They distinguish them for their spending habits. Germans considered "stingy" US, Norwegian much better. Koreans top of the list.
  10. Proven wrong by Agoda. 23 to 26, e.g. Sea Me Spring Tree in Soi 10 for less than 2000. Blackwoods on Soi 7, they have premium rooms with bathtub on the balcony with beach view Haven't checked availability. Standard room available for less than 3000. Soo many hotels on or in short walking distance from the beach...
  11. In a few days and not done any arrangement? Guess the affordable places/rooms will be sold out. If there is anything like peak season it's "in a few days" aka Christmas.
  12. Watch what they do! They have to turn it in first and shift side wards. They are kept in place by pressure difference. My previous post was faulty: of course 10000 m / about 30000 feet is a mid air height. Often more,
  13. Only on very low heights. Of course on the ground. But as the report says mid flight it must be typically 10000 feet or so. Difference between cabin pressure and low outside pressure pushes the door so strong to the fitting that no man would be able to lift it.
  14. Fortunately he would break his fingers before opening an emergency exit on cruising altitude. But of course it is a frightening scene.
  15. I use GoMo as a second SIM since May. I use it for mobile use only. At home just if 3bb would be down. Have a 150 GB volume with unlimited space for 999 Baht/year. Just now have 50/25 Mbit/s on my 4G mobile. Question: could you online register in your name with passport ? Failed for me, I had to have the daughter do it.
  16. Will it end like the terribly overcrowded tourist spots in Europe where angry inhabitants chase after the tourists ("go home! <deleted> off!")? "Entry fee", tourist tax...
  17. The theatre starts with the "last year to retirement" folklore. What can be achieved in one year by a high rank expecting his pension? The promotions have little to do with achievements just seniority.
  18. Many countries can not even afford to bother police with parking violations. Usually done by some "public order office" under city council rule.
  19. And then? Guarding the bike? What really helps like often seen in Pattaya: loading on a pickup and move to a fairly hidden place off South Pattaya Rd. Quite a hassle and motorbike taxi rides to free the vehicle.
  20. Grade A tourists easy to spot . No no I have no prejudice. Just by chance it's these tourists.
  21. That's what I read. It's not a steep increase of cancer cases but some "program" allowing people to freely choose the hospital. And as Srinagarid is the top place up here it's no wonder they flock there. As I understood they normally have to to visit their "assigned"/"registered" hospital first and only if needed they will be transferred to a higher up hospital. All that does not apply to the wealthy class that will visit private hospitals.
  22. Just checked the area and all the roads are quite narrow two lane. So quite sure the truck simply parked blocking the lane like it or not, allowed or not. So it does not make a big difference whether he was already moving or not. Just another speeding bike rider overlooking(!) a parked or slow moving truck.
  23. Just realized: that stopping on Beach rd and unloading to speed boats on the beach has been forbidden as far as I remember All at Bali Hai now? But still much less of the typical buses seen.
  24. Came back from Pattaya Nov 19 after two weeks. Not seen a single bus stopping on beach rd. in the early morning unloading Chinese who walk over to the waiting speed boats to Ko(h) La(r)n. Not seen columns of buses with Chinese going down through Naklua rd Soi 18 to the Centara or other hotels. Always seen Indian men in groups of 3 up walking down Soi 8 They have whole hotels to their own. For me they were "everywhere". For me it's the Indians who fill up for the Chinese. Sure it was early before high season and totally subjective but I think it really had much less Chinese tour groups.
