If it gives consolation: very similar experiences with Germany. Easily six days for "customs clearance/check" at Frankfurt airport.

You were faster. Of course these numbers are lower than average over the year. Just creating some important sounding headlines. Yesterday I drove with the bike over some minor rural roads (4 digit road numbers) with very little traffic like a bigger vehicle every five minutes. But they have set up the well known "traffic checkpoints" (tent camping). Such a joke!

Chonburi Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Pickup Truck
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
And you don't get detailed reports about the xx others every day. Repeating the reasons for the blood shed becomes a boring time waste. -
The whole action is just stunning. On one side leading a crusade against alcohol with silly sales restrictions etc. Now abolish alcohol taxes. Which other country has lowered alcohol tax? (serious question) And to no surprise applies to LOCALLY produced alcohol only. As if much wanted high spending tourists are attracted by saving a few Baht on LEO 😖

Just seen a video of the evacuation. It shows the right side of the plane with no fire at the time. Evacuation all through the two very wide slides in front. From the rear left you see the fire shining.

Am a bit confused. This fire fighting scene is about 11 minutes after the impact.

New Year holidaymakers still returning to Bangkok in droves

And you won't be affected by the lack of cheap labor? Clean the office on your own? -
128 dead in three days? 42/day. Normal toll for this country. As I always point out, it's just a publicity stunt. Much less dead on clogged roads with slow traffic. Dangerous are the nights on highways. The province stats are also of questionable meaningfulness. Khon Kaen 31 accidents in two days. "Worst". But it's a one of the biggest and most populated provinces and it carries a large stretch of the northeastern escape route #2. (no traffic in Bangkok, everyone fled )

A well known Pattaya vlogger stated that some hotels have "messed up" with bookings from Agoda resulting in double bookings that had to be cancelled. True or not who knows.

At KK immigration I was advised to show home country documents about source of funds. No problem for me, pension statement comes in July plus company pension sometime in the year. I am keeping a schedule of transferring > 65k once in a calendar month since September. Self transfer via WISE. Watching rate up to the 20th or so and then decide whether just 65xxx Baht or more. Before I just sent when the rate "looked good". Still having > 800k (if my car doesn't break down ) So far also possible to get income statement from German consulate in Pattaya. He told me that this year I can handle it via postal mail. Quite convenient while German consulate in Bangkok is a PITA. But with consulates I am cautious that they might decide to drop the service (see what US and others did). The 12x transfer method seems quite "waterproof". So I hope it will go smooth first week of October.

Experienced traveler I guess Indeed few hotels have rooms available tonight. Some mates had to change hotel in November because it was booked for the fireworks festival. From a typical "1000 Baht" hotel off Soi Buakhao:

Thai Central Bank defends new controls on cash deposits via CDMs
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I did in the past. Withdrawing with foreign card in the good old AEON times (max single withdraw was 98k! Baht). Then deposit at Bangkok Bank CDM. At this time (AEON no fee, home bank no fee) that was a cheap way to transfer money. All a thing of the past. WISE does the job now. -

Much ado about nothing. If you are not willing to pay 100 to 200 Baht per year for a debit card you better place your money under the pillow. Money transfer between Thai banks via online banking is free and instant. I visit bank branch max 2 times a year if book is full or need letter for immigration. And the queues at the teller don't look like an hour (while new book/letter might take a while). -
It's a foreshadow of next expansion. Why limit to Asean with lively forums like Brunei. Looking forward to a Tajikistan and Turkmenistan forum 🤣

How many in a box? Amlodipine 5 mg is really cheap (100 tablets for 300 Baht or less, buying for my wife). Don't know about Valsartan. Looks like Valsartan is the expensive content.

What date did you deliver it at Thai post office? You don't have a huge pile of Christmas parcels and backlog in Australia?

As written above, get an IDP from your home country. If motorcycle is ticked, all fine. Unlikely. I didn't have a motorcycle license from home country and did a new Thai license from scratch in 2017. The theory test seems to have become a bit more difficult in the meantime. "Driving test" on the office yard is a joke. Guess that in Chonburi / Pattaya getting an appointment may need patience. There are driving schools that can be helpful. (visiting driving school is voluntary here )

For those who are confused: it's a phrase regularly found on Thai dating sites.
