DNA tests underway to tie Yingluck to suspected flight sedan

Searching for evidence that they belonged to former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, police have conducted DNA checks on items within the seized Toyota Camry sedan believed to have taken her from Bangkok to Sa Kaew province during her August 23 flight from justice.

Discovery of her DNA within would help them prove that Yingluck had been in the sedan, a security source said.

The car was seized and three police officers arrested late last week. They were interrogated under suspicion of helping Yingluck flee through the eastern province that borders Cambodia.

Physical evidence of Yingluck presence was not found at the last military checkpoint in Sa Kaew province. To date, investigating officers have not been able to say with certainty whether she crossed the border or not.

If evidence is found, Yingluck could face additional charges of violating immigration laws. The source said a group of people had been sent for a week or so to carefully examine potential escape routes.

The three police officers are not now charged with a crime. Yingluck fled prior to the court issuing an arrest warrant for her on August 25, the day she failed to appear before Supreme Court judges to here their ruling on charges of dereliction of duty related to her government’s rice pledging scheme.

A judge source has clarified that the three officers were not guilty of helping Yingluck flee on August 23 as her run occurred before the court’s August 25 issuance of an arrest warrant.

The source said Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan had instructed investigating officers to find legal grounds to charge the three police. At the least, they could be accused of contempt of court because judges had previously barred Yingluck from travelling overseas, the source said.

These judges and their sources can be pretty handy, too!

3 Words for the Junta--- "Get Over It"

Don't need to pretend any longer

It is not like anyone believes

1- You did not know & hope for this result

2- That she had any possibility of a fair Trial under Junta law

Why are they doing this? To prove that she fled the country?

They are trying to find evidence that she has been in that car.

That doesnt prove she has been in it on a certain date driving a certain way, so i have no idea either what the overall goal is.

This is just too ridiculous.

if this ongoing saga was submitted as a movie/ tv script it would be trashed as being beyond the bounds of believability.
I'm not so sure. I think the Keystone Cops producers may have considered it [emoji16]

This begs the question;

Where did they get the DNA sample of Yinluck to compare any sample they may find?

This raises all sort of privacy issues, yes I know the authorities will, if need be, pass any laws or regulations to make their actions legal.

And those passing such laws will give themselves the usual immunity for making such changes to laws.

What if she is not. Has anyone seen her? Has she been photographed anywhere? Maybe I'm missing something but I don't recall a sighting yet. an someone correct me on that if I'm wrong please.

Thats correct but her big brother also never madenoises that she might be abducted/missing.

Save to assume he knows where she is and they are hatching some cunning plans.

Good point. Let's assume for a moment that she hasn't left the country, I still fail to see how taking DNA from the car is going to help them locate her...

What is the point if this. She escaped. The cop involved has admitted it. Why do we need DNA tests? She escaped, if you really want her back contact Interpol.

They have to release the verdict, first. Interpol I believe will not issue a watch for somebody not yet convicted.

She escaped.

The three officers have been accused of using illegally registered cars, but they have not been charged as the suspected escape occurred before an arrest warrant was issued for Yingluck on August 25.

A judicial source speaking on condition of anonymity said the three officers were not guilty of helping Yingluck evade justice given the absence of an arrest warrant.

So really not an escape. No evasion from an arrest warrant.

Just an unannounced road trip within Thailand in the safety of a police escort.
