‘Broken-hearted’ man saved from jumping off Rama IV bridge

By The Nation

Police managed to convince a “broken-hearted” man to abandon his plan to jump from the Rama IV bridge into the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi on Wednesday afternoon.

Passers-by spotted a man parking his motorcycle in the middle of the bridge before he climbed over the bridge rail so they called an emergency centre that in turn alerted Pak Kret Police Station.

Police from the station arrived at the scene and spent more than an hour convincing the man to climb back onto the bridge’s walkway.

The man, 22, whose name was withheld, told police that he did not have a reason to live after his girlfriend left him several years ago.

Police contacted his relatives to pick him up.

He is 22 years old... did it take him several years to realize he had been dumped?

Once again I am stupefied.

22 yrs old .... they look their best at that age ...

poor boy ... hope he gets some support and gets well.

Took him two years to decide to jump and then failed. He was going through the motion but had no plans to jump! What an Idiot! Probably mamas boy or snowflake. Jump next time Mate!
