Blood on the machete + video should be plenty of proof. A DNA would solve that "mystery" easily. Besides, did you not see him hitting the other guy with his car? I assume they are both at the police station, and that they are both subject to criminal persecution. The Aussie should've been in cuffs even before the punch from the Thai guy, though, leniency and patience towards a foreigner is what allowed that punch to be thrown in the first place.

But yes, the Thai guy was in the wrong too.

But the Thai man cut the Aussie off. He could have, AT ANY TIME, drove off. He didn't, and it was his wife and child in the car.

This shows to me, that his ego comes before the safety of his family.

I think you need to explain with diagrams, lots of blunt tools in the box.

Mr Collins seems quite lucky that 1) a dog pack of Thais didn't join the foray on their compatriot's side and kill or maim him and 2) that Mr Sumet didn't pull out a gun from his car and shoot him dead or maim him.  HIs machete would have been no use in either situation.  Shooting a man dead running at him with a machete with obvious malevolent intent would have given Sumet a chance at a self defence acquittal, even if he carried without a permit which would have been a separate charge.

For his own safety Collins should be deported and blacklisted after serving a suitable spell as a guest of HM.   Sumet's hired thugs will be waiting for him when he gets out, if stays in Pattaya.

Well to be fair, I know some lovely Aussie folks.

Not one of them over 50, though.

What the hell!!!!

So many comments, so many opinions (from people who were not there and did not see the WHOLE altercation)

Who can hold their hand up and say that they 100% know the truth and the true story?

We can see sod-all from the dash cam footage, we can see everything from the reporter footage. .... but really, there's still not enough to mount an informed opinion as an armchair observer.

There's only one blunt tool in the box, a tool lucky enough to get out off with a sucker punch instead of ending up in the morgue. Amazing that he has lasted that long with this kind of behavior. The other guy shouldn't have done what he did, but I must say I find his actions far easier to understand than the complete idiot foreigner.

Jai yen-yen, guys, the way to handle an aggressive driver is to let him or her pass and get on with your day. Road rage isn't a Thai thing, it happens all over the world.

I can hold my hand up and say the Aussie went to his trunk, got a weapon and charged. That part is pretty damn clear.

Fair enough. I used to work with some Aussies in India. Very well educated people. I learned a lot from them. Funny, hard working, just professional. But the Aussies I have met in Thailand so far are nothing else than scumbags. And this 'machete guy' is surely one of them.

Wait till its his turn for what assaulting a guy with a weapon or maybe trying to run one over? Judging by your comments and attitude I am guessing you are also a weapon carrying coward to

I love the "Don't speak out of turn, you know nothing as I've been here longer than you" kind of guys. Normally they don't even speak Thai after staying here for 20 or 30 years, then expect you to bow humbly and accept their seniority, much like the Thai way of respecting and never opposing their elders.

My car is my castle (on wheels) but the whole saga just goes to prove that the most dangerous part of any car is the nut that holds the steering wheel.

Does that way include sucker punching 72 year olds?

Or assaulting 70 year old women by kicking them in the head when they are on holiday?

As I stated on the other thread it is an absolute guarantee he would not have sucker punched a Thai man of 72 years, and I stand vehemently behind that statement.

Way to go quoting part of my post and ignoring the rest. Putting words in my mouth is just the icing on the cake.

1st, the Thai should have immediately been arrested and jailed. 2nd, Thais in general can barely drive. 3rd, We see clearly in the video which one is aggressive. 4th, One is an old man. And lastly, that Thai guy would never be able to go to work again without being killed and his shop would be burned down.

C*cksucker problem solved.

Just sayin.

a joke?!!!

are you having a nice sharp garden tool machete handy in your boot in case you scratched somebody's car, gave a finger, drove away and then been stopped by the "victim"?

do you just slam on the power when somebody stands in front of your car, not even looking your way?

do you smash somebody's car window and turn around, walking away when you "fear for your life"?

what you mean "your turn"?

Actually, the Aussie should have been immediately arrested and jailed. That is No. 1. Secondly, the same should've happened to the Thai guy after the punch. Thirdly, when did punching an old man in the face become worse than trying to run someone over with your car, after attacking them (and their car, which, by the way, had no ill will in this incident) with a machete? That boggles the mind of any reasonable person.

Being old does at no point entitle one to act like a complete moron without consequences, at the very least age should indicate the wisdom and ability to act in a mature and civilized way.

Idiotic - He thought the Thai Guy was going to kill him so instead of protecting himself and driving off he got out of his car, grabbed an machete and approached the Thai, threatened him and damaged his car...

This has to be some of the dumbest back-peddaling I've read... the Australian should be in Hospital getting a full check up, he clearly hasn't come to his senses !

There is no dressing up what happened... The Australian guy escalated the situation to Assault - it really is that simple.... He needs to face charges, as does the Thai man for his re-escalation and retaliation after the Police were on the scene.

He waited for the police because he knew he was wrong and was afraid the old man was gonna kick his ass. Despicable behavior. Coward.

Thailand is a totally racist country, with a lot of stupid aggressive people. Simple as that. I'm glad for each of my Thai friends that managed to get out of there.

This deserves the prize for the most stupidest post of the day.

Do you know the meaning of "totally racist country, with a lot of stupid aggressive people"

Have a look at the videos once again.

Fair points ok.

500 baht fine to thai guy for punch.

6 months Jail for use of a deadly weapon for Dundee

6 months jail for use of car as a deadly weapon for dundee

Deportation for being a bullshitting tosser for dundee.

With actions like this I reckon the judge will be doing his daughter a big favour slinging him out.

Just waiting for the "medical condition" excuse or did I miss it?

No, we don't all know that, you fear that, irrationally.  And even if you truly fear that that does not mean you can get a machete and chop into a car window with a child inside, what on earth are you apologising for this time?

The man followed him to the school ,drove his car in front and blocked him. He's a big guy. The Aussie is 72. He went crazy to protect himself. Why did the Thai guy follow him and cut him off.

I'm apologising for your ineptness.
