PRUCHYA Isarow claimed his 15th ITF doubles title as he and Japanese Masato Shiga beat Yuichi Ito of Japan and Ly Hoang Nam of Vietnam 6-3 6-1 in the final of the US$15,000 ITF Thailand Pro Circuit at the LTAT National Development Tennis Centre in Nonthaburi on Friday.

The win was consolation for 22-year-old Pruchya, who has yet to move beyond the first round in his two latest singles appearances on the home ITF series.

The Chulalongkorn University student has this year won two doubles trophies, including the ITF Thailand Men’s Futures 6 at the same venue in August.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, the in-form Patcharin Cheapchandej reached her second ITF singles final, coming back from 1-3 down in the final set to upset second seed Bunyawi Thamchaiwat 6-2 2-6 6-4.

“I feel more confident this year, which is why I have shown my best results on the ITF Circuit. When you feel more confident, you crave for more wins. That’s what happening to me,” said the 22-year-old, who won the season opening home ITF Women’s Circuit, her maiden ITF trophy, in Hua Hin earlier this year.

Patcharin will take on the junior world No 20 Liang En Shuo of Taiwan, who saved two match points to beat Thailand’s Thasaporn Naklo 6-3 6-7 (9-11) 6-4.

“I have to go and try to play the game she doesn’t like. She is a promising player but I’m quite confident with my game now,” she said.

In the women’s doubles final, Liang and Taiwanese partner Chan Chin-wei beat last week’s champions, Nudnida Luangnam and Varunya Wongteanchai, 6-1 6-4.
