Police in Bang Lamung, Pattaya, have admitted that one of their men let a drugs suspect escape from custody.

TNews reported that Wirot "Kai" Japprayong, 24, was being led from the cells to a police vechicle ahead of a court appearance.

He had previously been charged with a Class 1 dug offence, namely possession of "ice" methamphetamine.

But photographs posted online showed him strolling off and getting in a vehicle with two "attractive" women. Pictures of the women appeared online too.

The head of Chonburi police Seesak Srisrirong headed to the station later after the damaging pictures appeared on the LIne application along with Royal Thai Police insignia. They were posted on a group used by the police themselves.

After a crisis meeting in private the chief made a tour of the cells then left saying nothing to reporters.

But later Tnews revealed they had spoken to Bang Lamung station chief Jakthip Paraphanthakun who admitted that one of his men had let the suspect go.

The officer has been transferred following a full inquiry.

The officer, after receiving a large "donation" to his bank account, let the suspect walk away and get into a car with two attractive female, one of whom promised to meet him later at a curtain motel to thank him in private.

That should alleviate any suspicion that the RTP have functioning brains. Obviously taken a fat bung to let him walk free, then grass themselves up for it. Only in Thailand!

Large donations are given in Cash, Bank accounts leave traces. Even the dumbest police man knows this !?

Transfered? So this is okay, you'll just be moved if you let a criminal walk away? Oh...what was I thinking...Thai Police....got it. No problem, business as usual.

Kwaistone Cops shoot themselves in the foot again.  This is no longer news just another nail in the coffin of Thailand's quest for developed nation status.

transferred to where? To an "inactive" post? Full salary included? Did they find the envelope?

I like these stories. Gives a good laugh.

Would have thought that inactive post vacancy was filled time and time again.

They used to just let them climb out of the toilet window, at least with some semblance of making an escape and covering tracks for the escorting officer. This seems blatant! Or maybe, just maybe, he is that stupid!
