PHUKET: The driver of an out of control cement truck managed to avoid sustaining severe injuries when he leapt from the driver’s cab of his vehicle before it plunged down a hill in Ao Makham yesterday afternoon (Oct 29).

Lt Khwansirinart Thairaj of the Wichit Police was notified of an accident involving a cement truck on Soi Nakaraj near the Phuket Deep Sea Port in Ao Makham at 2:25pm yesterday.

Doesn't look like it was raining, so it must have been the brakes that caused it.

>>“The driver was heading to Soi Nakaraj from Phuket Town. When going up the hill, the driver tried to change gears but failed to do so. The cement truck went started rolling backwards down the hill so the driver tried to brake but couldn’t."

Another quality "driver" plying Phuket roads.  Between these guys and the vans and busses, I wonder what actually will disqualify you from a commercial license?

No ... just can't change to a lower gear. But it was the brakes fault as the truck rolled down the hill.  :shock1:

"I wonder what actually will disqualify you from a commercial license?"   Nothing!

How many drivers with manual gear change can engage gear and drive off on a hill. Most hand brakes don't work I suspect, even if they knew how to use them.:saai:

Turns out you have to be on crystal meth, go crazy and throw things at your bus, while scaring the tourists you're supposed to be driving.

Another area but there seem to be a lot of cement trucks using the railway line bypass  in Pattaya heading North lately. They drive recklessly so beware. Was behind one yesterday and no functioning brake lights, When they get to the end they turn right and go against traffic on Hwy 36!
