First of all, I'd better take this opportunity of saying ' Happy New Year ' to Thaivisa forum's member :o By the way, I've got a question to ask any guru here about marriage. I used to post what documents are we required to bring along to marry in Thailand.

I am a Thai woman who will marry to my Spanish boyfriend in Bangkok next month. My boyfriend's just got an email from the Spanish embassy that he's required to show his 'FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS' which indicate that he is able to support his Thai wife to the officials at district office.

To me, I have never heard that he is required the financial documents or any documents which proved that he could support me, but only a 'certificate or affirmation of freedom to marry'.

Anyone's got an idea what documents are really required to bring along to the district office in Bangkok. We will have only few weeks in Bangkok to get everything done, including my EEA family permit from the British embassy, so that I am allowed to live in the U.K.

I am a bit concerned about our time limit. Please answer my questions if anyone's got experience in marrying to any European citizens, apart from British.

Thanks a lot,

Londres,

I can't give you a definitive answer, but when I married in Thailand, I had to declare my financial standing on the affirmation of freedom to marry, however, no-one, neither the British embassy nor the amphur, actually asked for the evidence.

Scouse.
