A woman was arrested at a market in Kalasin on Wednesday morning for using fake Bt1,000 notes.

Police arrested Kesinee Nualbuttri, 37, at 8.30am while she was shopping for food at a fresh market in Kalasin’s Kham Muag district.

Food vendor Kolkrai Praison alerted police after the woman used a fake Bt1,000 note to buy Bt250 worth of his food.

Police found eight more fake Bt1,000 notes on Kesinee.

She admitted she got the fake notes from a younger friend and tried to use them at the market.

Police will conduct further investigations as they suspect she was part of a gang that prints and distributes fake bank notes.

A off topic post meant to deflect the topic has been removed.

She's a bit stupid carrying a wad of them, would be easy to claim you received an individual note in all innocence. Fake 1000 baht notes seem quite common, especially around the markets. I suppose they assume the stall holders are less vigilant than other retailers; would imagine the 7 staff, for example, are trained to recognise fakes. Of little concern to me though, all my 1000 baht notes come from the ATM.
