i know you have replied to this question many times but please once more as am very confused and getting a headache.

in april or may my thai girlfriend is coming here ( i hope) on a tourist 6 month visa.

please stage by stage tell me how to get started i.e. go to embassy etc, as i dont know where to start!!!

she is 21 finishing uni soon, no kids, just nice normal girl.

First of all your girlfriend will require a passport. Then gather your supporting evidence and download the application form. Once you've got everything together, you are ready to go. You no longer make the application at the embassy but rather the visa application centre. They forward the application to the embassy for consideration and you should then hear back within a few days.

I suggest that you have a good search of this sub forum and you will find many threads which specify what documentation your girlfriend will need to support her application. Also have a good look through the visa application centre website as this will tell you how to pay the fees etc.

i am 25 and we thought we would use my mother as a sponsor i,e someone else other than me or is it better i am the sponsor???

Ultimately, it makes no difference who the sponsor is, providing that whoever it is can offer sufficent financial support and accommodation during the visit. The sponsor could be you, your girlfriend, or any third party.

Hi, I know it's not fair but what the embassy require from you and your girlfriend is absolute proof that she will be returning to Thailand.

Wedge of money in the bank, land and/or property in her own name, job with a letter from her employer that it will still be hers when she gets back to Thailand will all count in her favour.

Take Scousers advice and do a thorough reading of as many VV topics as you can. They are full of what you can do to make your application successful.
