Following heavy rains in Koh Samui on Friday morning the provincial governor ordered his staff to ensure the safety of tourists at the island's Loy Krathong celebrations and Full Moon party in neighboring Koh Pangan.

Sanook reported that the Met office said that 211 milimeters of rain had fallen resulting in floods up to 30 centimeters in depth at the  Chaweng Beach area of Bo Phut district.

Governor Wichawut Jinto communicated to all authorities to ensure the safety of tourists, said Sanook.

Glad and thankful to hear that the governor cares about Samui. However one day only with 211 mm downpour, and only up to 30 cm water in the usual spots on roads, is not that bad for Samui. Little traffic problems at some dedicated places in the morning, but all water gone in the afternoon...:smile:

Let me add my voice to KhunPer above;

While it was some heavy rain for a few minutes, it was NOT 'torrential'. How do I know? I was out having my morning cycle in it.

Appreciate the concern, but perhaps best saved for another day when we really need it.

Cheers

That must have been awful, did you mount the Fins and diving mask?
