The starting point is your finances.

As your lady doesnt work, you will need to sponsor her

Generally the Embassy want to see proof of your income....you lived there for 5 years and have no income....to be truthful the Embassy will regard this as suspicious.

Have a read through other threads here and you will see what is required or go to the Immi website and read up on it.

If the Aussie is "financially stable", that indicates that the Aussie has access to sufficient funds in order to support a certain lifestyle.

You don't need to have a regular income if you are living off the profits of (previous) investments. You will however, need to provide evidence that sufficient funds exist.

You will also need to provide a compelling reason for the applicant to return to Thailand, give assurances that the applicant will not seek or engage in employment during the Oz visit and will abide by all visa conditions.

If you can do that, your chances of obtaining a tourist visa are pretty good.
