any unique resorts north of Chiang mai

Featured Replies

Will be coming back from Pai next week on Motorbike.  Considering taking the off road north and north east route for a bit of a challenge and wondering if any special scenic resorts forum members could recommend north of Chiang Mai.  Budget is 2000 down.  Plan on staying and night and then going to sticky waterfalls the next morning and back to CM.  Looking for water, nature, uniqueness.  Any suggestions appreciated.

May like the White Temple in Chiang Rai?

How about Mae Tiang or Chiang Dao?  Look at Agora by map.  There are plenty out there.

Hundreds of resorts in your price range. Go to Booking.com, Agoda.com, and others.

Chiang Mai and north to Burma and Laotian borders have many resorts.

Doi Ang Khan Scenic Resort near Fang - mountains, nature walks, gardens, Royal organic farming and alternative crop research Project, plenty of quality accommodation. (Take warm clothes for chilly mornings at this time of year, avoid the weekends and their tour groups from the South.)

Tub Tao Caves. Resort accommodation in nearby Chai Prakarn.

Fang Hot Springs (National Park) - best in the North. Good chalet accommodation on site. Hot Springs, geyser, public and private hot spring baths, bushwalking, natural stream swimming, restaurants etc.

Flower Hills Resort, Doi Mae Salong north of Chiang Rai.

779 หมู่ 9 ซอย ๕ Tambon Mae Rai, Amphoe Mae Fa Luang, Chang Wat Chiang Rai 57110
Phone: 053 765 496

No accommodation; however, the Chiang Mai Erotic Gardens and Teahouse in Mae Rim is definitely unique.
Soi 8, Huay Sai, Mae Rim. Closed Mondays. Phone 0833184855. 300 baht pp entry.

Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan in Mae Suai just off the 118 is way more spectacular than the White Temple.

i would consider Mae Salong and Doi Mae Salong;

quite nice, remarkably interesting tea plantations; not over commercialized; the Doi is not in the smallish city/village of Mae Salong; it is above it;

also decent museum

Tub Tao was great but I don't recall any resorts there.

I recommend Chang Dao. Several resorts of varying prices there.

If wanting to go far, Riverside Resort in Thaton is the cheese.

Other side of main road and a bit south of turnoff to MHS is a lake with floating rooms- forget name.

As I said in my first post, Tub Tao Caves - in my opinion far superior to the better known Chiangdao Caves - have resort accommodation available in nearby Chai Prakarn.
