I no longer have the bike but I did change if for the same make if I rememeber.  6-months I used it with no issues.  Actually, within that 6 months I rode it 4 times.  Bike started with no issues.   In your post above you say just over a year.  That's not bad going if the bike wasn't used other than just to run it on idle from time to time.

Oh o.k, my battery was on a battery tender & wasn't left to go completely flat, the previous battery was a cheap one & lasted over 4 years, well anyway thanks for the reply......

Cheers

Was gonna ride but battery went flat,  starting it 5 times before and not riding it for a month seemed to do it.

Charging and ride tomorrow.

I think I'll fit a switch so the lights don't come on with the ignition at start up, gotta be better for battery.

New portable air compressor arrived from Lazada

Xiaomi

Just had a look yesterday for a pump and came across it on Lazada. On my order list.

A new tire for my 650 arrived, took it to a shop in town. 60 Baht for changing a 180/55 17. Impressive.

Same here! Started right up after a light wiping of dust. Amazing what a few months old battery can do! Weeks can drift by without a start.

Went for an 11km blast on local newly paved curvy roads just to keep the 4 carbs  fresh. CB600FY running like a top! Two pairs of led lights up front make it 15km/hr faster! ????

ps-I may have posted this pic, but not lately. Bike porn, she’s 21 now!

Thought I was going to die riding it.

Heading up the 3037, no traffic, enjoying the ride, when a tree branch hit the road about 10 meters in front of the bike.

Swerved right, around the limb, back on my side of the road.

Found a place to pull off and took a breather.

Largest part of the multi branched piece that hit the road was the size of my thigh.

5-6 meters long.

Always good to carry extra undershorts.

Got back from a couple days in Fang. Up the 3037 and overnight.

Then did the 1014. Tried 3 different ways to access the 3037 but Nat'l park closed and they stopping people at the gates.

Even tried going overland to hit the main road on a muddy potholed mess of a trail. Lo and Behold they had people stopping you there too !

Oh well - great few days anyway !

Bike left a long time,  started ride outs a while back and not bother with level checks.

Had a local ride engine temperature rising to very hot, not usually the way.

Checked the rad and filled rad with distilled water and it took 600ml and expansion tank took 200ml emm.!!!!

No oil contamination no white smoke.

Bike running perfect ?????

Taking a look on the hose joints and connections it looks like from checking stains and slight leaks over time are happening.

Hope it is that for sure no worries a head gasket a real pain. ????

You running coolant or straight distilled water ?

Since I fixed the bike up and got her running, new rad and some new hoses have been only using distilled water after a good flush out for the time being and temp on bike every time rode was always OK and now this,  put it down to some hose connection leaks and evaporation.

Would be open to anyones diagnosis though my 28 year old Mia noi never speaks to me she only growls at me. ????

In a sealed coolant system you would not think evap would be an issue.

And using distilled water will not leave as much of a mess as it evaporates from a leak either. Like mineral deposits from their prescience.

Maybe use 50/50 distilled and coolant. I buy from HD truck supplier, pre mixed, use for all my drives and rides

That's a heck of a lot of water considering the the coolant capacity of a bikes cooling system! Usual suspects to check would be the rad cap and the tale-tale hole on the water pump (if it's got one?). I suppose there is a chance you had an air lock when you last filled it and that has now cleared? If it takes more than 100ml the next time you check it I'd say you've got a problem somewhere.

I've never run any bike (or car for that matter) on straight water, I've always used a coolant mix as it stops corrosion and does lower the running temp of engines I believe.

Fair call, I don't think airlock definitely a leak or leaks.

Bike was left for quite sometime at a time when it was very hot and just started once a week.

With only distilled water used it still seems lot to evaporate.

The coolant system takes over 3 litres and there's 10 connections under fairings.

I was just useing distilled water because the I had flushed the system several times and levels were fine over quite a time after several 70 kilos ride outs.

The new radiator cap looks a bit suspect so I'll put the old one back on and keep a check.

As said bike doesn't miss a beat, no white smoke, no oil contamination, so it has to be slight connection leaks over time.

All I can do is take fairings off which enables me to check hose connections.

Ordered an Airhawk seat pad…I’ve owned them before and highly recommend them for long or short distance!

You “will” out too much air in it first time…can’t believe how little air you need to make the difference!

You can bleed air out on the go or at least as you sit on it…once you get it right you’ll love it????????????

airhawk.net

ps: I’m having mine sent to me from Canada but if anyone finds one here in Thailand let me know

It's finally started raining here so time to get back up in the hills ????

Oil and filter change plus a good check over...got enough back tyre left for a couple more rides
