Clive, the Aussie guy that sold pizzas off of soi buakhao, has sadly passed away a few days ago. He was a really nice guy. Rest in peace Clive.

I just heard as well.  A real shame.  He made the best pizzas I have ever eaten in Thailand.  Never skimped on toppings and used fresh pizzas and did everything right.  I went there the other night and the place was shut.  RIP.

I stand corrected. You got me. You win a prize. Perhaps a wet kiss. I guess I heard that a while back because of the very thick crust. But Chicago deep dish has a thick crust (and very different than any actual Italian crust) only around the edges. Not the same as Sicilian at all. Chicago pizza inventions also include the Chicago deep dish STUFFED pizza which is different than a standard Chicago deep dish pizza.

Now for some humor --

Let me help you, and any one else who may have this same mistaken impression...

No matter what you read or what anyone outside of Chicago tells you, that .... "thing" in the Stewart video... is NOT Chicago pizza.  It's a tourist attraction.  By far, the majority of Chicagoans prefer the mighty thin over that monstrosity that has become so closely associated with our iconic cuisine.

If you've gone to Chicago and have had one, we thank you for your patronage; Disneyland is in a westerly direction.

The majority of pizza parlors in Chicago, the surrounding suburbs and pretty much the American Midwest, make thin, crunchy-crust pizzas commonly referred to as tavern style and look like the one in the attachment.  However, there's is a marked difference between the prepared pie you see and the variety you may be thinking of.

I have traveled extensively.  I am from Chicago, so I have a bias.  I have tried -and become appreciative- of many varieties and takes on pizza.  A good bronx pizza is highly favored, but there is nothing quite like this.  My Thai spouse, after listening to me exalt Chicago thin-crust for years, on her first visit to the U.S. (Chicago, at my cousins) on her first slice, exclaimed "Finally! Something you weren't lying about!"

Been a fan of Pizza Boss since opening. Top end crust, and recently he's worked on the sauce and pepperoni to bring them on par with the crust. No set menu yet as he likes to experiment with different toppings and styles. 60 bt per slice (out of an 18" pizza)

Awesome.  I spotted the place about a month ago before the sign went up.  Walking along Soi Lengkee yesterday I saw the sign for the first time.  I will definitely give it a shot.  Online reviews so far are all good.

Just gave Pizza Boss a try now.  Ordered 2 extra large slices at 60 baht each.  Best pizza I have had in Pattaya.  Very crispy crust.  New Bronx Pizza just opened beside Retox on the other end of Soi Lengkee.  No need to go to Bronx Pizza any more that's for sure.  Staff at Pizza Boss very nice as well.

Even though I knew where it is it's still not easy to see the signage.  Location is on Soi Lengkee just east of Soi Buakhao.  I think it's across from Loaf, another great eating establishment in Pattaya.

Tried Pizza Boss at 6:30. Lazy useless waitress was too busy sitting down and playing with her phone to notice I was there. She was less than 2 1/2 meters away but I had to call her. No pizza was ready. I was told to come back in about 20 minutes.

Returned at 7:15. Seven slices were sitting on display. Picked 2 and they were served cold by the same waitress. Had to tell her to heat them. They were then served hot but were a little burned from reheating. The pizza was acceptable but not great.

Watched the pizza maker prepare another pizza in the back and it took her more than 10 minutes to do one. She placed on the side and did not cook it until all the slices were sold and no slices were on display for more than 10 minutes.

I was there from 7:15 to 8:00  and there were only 3 other customers. Loud US country music was being played the whole time by a farang who was probably the owner.

The pizza boss was a great place but in recent days it seems weird. When I went as a group I order a full pizza(because there was not 8 slice ready to eat). I chose only 3 ingredient. Normally, it is 60baht per slice but when I made to order it was around 650baht(100 baht more expensive). The logic should be buy more pay less but nevermind.. The last time I went with a friend and we planned to eat in total 3 slices at 11pm. There was only 2 slice which one of them was vegan pizza. When I asked ıf I can get 3 slice, the answer was mai mi, cannot sir.. I think the owner is tired of selling slice pizza and hunting for big customers who wish to order a full pizza and charge them more!

The Italian pizzeria in Naklua is probably one of the best , they rate high on Tripadvisor . Only 200 baht for a  big size margherita , and up to 280 baht .

Italian owner who works every night and make sure his staff are doing it right, you can't go wrong there.

Was in the neighborhood today but too early. Grottino and Bella across the street don't open until 3 pm. Forget lunch.

You could have gone German round there, but it is a poor second to a good Italian place. A shame World of Sport is long gone; you could have had pie and chips.

Bei Gerhard? True, should check it out sometime, but was in the mood for Italian (long story). Pizza Big looked open if sleepy. But they annoyed me years ago w/ a notable decline in quality and now I won't risk them again. Ended up--control yourselves, delicate food connoisseurs--having a pork chop and a cold Singha at Kiss. And it was not bad for the price. :)

Anyway these two Italian places there on Soi 33 on the radar now (tnx, TVF reviewers) and I'll go back sooner rather than later.

+ Piccollo (the Mr Bean place), Bazi and 2 or 3 other German restos on Soi 33 and Naklua Rd. I have never tried Bei Gerhard.

Bei Mama next to the VIP bar complex specialise in duck, if that is your fancy. A very nice Thai lady runs the place.

Nothing wrong with Kiss; their steaks are better than you might expect. My lady loves their steamed fish.

Slightly off topic, so back on: Pizza Big, I agree, is not what it once was. Food is heavy and stodgy.

The pizza looks good, the bagels a bit unusual.

Are YOU serious?  Have you ever been to a bagel shop?

The most popular type of bagel is "The Everything Bagel".

It is an extremely common practice to top bagels with "Sprinkles" of sesame seeds, garlic, onion, salt, poppy seeds, etc.

Google: Everything Bagel

This pizza place doing bagels, are they boiling the dough first? Got to do that to be authentic. They're probably not but I would buy those anyway as there aren't any other decent choices in town. Why don't they promote them for sale to the public and check out the demand?

Back to pizzas..... I read today that US chain Little Caesar is targetting the ASEAN market; and Thailand in particular; over the course of the next 5 years.

I have never come accross one of their outlets; are they something we should be looking forward to seeing and eating at?
