Two Nahon Pathom police officers have been formally charged with dereliction of duty in violation of the Section 157 of the Criminal Code for helping former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra to escape.

Pol Gen Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, a deputy police chief, said the two officers–Pol Lt Col Samit Chai-inkham and Pol Senior Sgt Maj Pornpipat–reported to him on Friday (Dec 1) to hear the charges, Thairath online reports.

He said the two officers were summonsed to hear the charges after the investigators had obtained sufficient evidence to confirm that they helped Ms Yingluck escape on Aug 23, two days ahead of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions’ schedule to deliver its ruling on the rice-pledging case against her on Aug 25.  The escape prompted the court to postpone the reading of the verdict to Nov 27.

Gives a whole new meaning to the saying, 'The show must go on!'.

Like the kid at school who blatantly did something bad and denies it. When everyone gives up caring, he continues to protest his innocence. We all know who did it. We just don't care anymore.

This case could be the beginning of the end for the Junta. It cannot be underestimated just how much influence/support Taksin has in Thailand; from the millions in Isaan to the thousands of police officers throughout the country.

I don't know if they did anything lawfully wrong; and I don't care one way or 'other. But quite a few high-ranking officials looked the other way and for many followers they were morally right.

Ch-o-ch is nibbling away at the edges in all this. His day will come!

Have to say, respect to Pol Lt Col Samit Chai-inkham and Pol Senior Sgt Maj Pornpipat for keeping quiet and protecting those that were behind the escape of Yingluck. Because these two guys did not plan this extraction for sure IMO.

Heaven forbid that the true facts are ever made public.......................

I'd rather hope it would lead in the end of the political activities of the Shins' clan. But considering money stands above everything in Thailand, I guess they will attempt to go on making trouble for some time, in the hope to regain their top position at the trough.

As for the RTP, has it escaped to the sharp eyes of 'owl sees all' that it has always been Thaksin's personal 'pretorian guard', the most evident proof of 'dereliction of duty' by IMO happening during the 2010 unrest, it did nothing (refusing to execute clear orders...) when not plain contra-productive, or as accomplices of the red thugs, paid by ...!

Harvesting the low hanging fruit again, to placate the masses who believe in the military.

These two policemen have probably received their reward money and will one day be free enough to enjoy it. They may get promoted to Police General under a new administration? :whistling:

Not really.  They cannot tie Yingluck to the car that was driven to the border.  They cannot prove she crossed the border.  They only have some sort of message that she was in Dubai and a confession.  In a real, non politically charged court, there does not seem to be a case other than he might have left his post.  Innocent or not, where are the proven facts ?

Thailands finest select 2 Scape goats!!

True These 2 cops are the Scape goats Show the public the police did there job and find who helped her escape They will quietly disappear  and the case soon forgotten  But police records will show they got there men and that is all that matters We all know these 2 cops were not high enough in the pecking order to plan this escape They are just the scape goats There will be no trial for these 2 cops because the truth might come out If they are lucky they will get nice pension every month with promise never to say anything about this matter Threat will be you talk maybe not good for you and family Case closed

Somebody had to take the fall for the little guy. This decision was most definitely made at the very top of the food chain. And someone is being asked to fall on his sword, as a result of the cowards protecting their own butts, as usual. No surprise there.

There may be a few chosen carefully selected scapegoats but the man ultimately responsible for the security of Yingluck was none other than the mentally challenged Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan.

Has anyone known a Thai minister, or in fact a Thai Prime Mister, to take responsibility for their failings?.........never!

Its the culture around here blame others End of it, but its not, 2 months and she will surface with her asylum and then what are they going to do? Declare war on that country, not a chance in hell. The more they push this the bigger fools they will look in the end. Push it to far and there will be a place in those European justice courts waiting for them. Some people are mentally retarded from birth, this lot beats even those poor so and so's

Where are the charges for dereliction of duty and the seizure of assets to compensate the state?
