Thailand - India FTA to be finalised by July this year.

India has expressed interest in expediting Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Thailand. Government spokesman Capt.Yongyuth Maiyalap (ยงยุทธ มัยลาภ) said India has shown tremendous growth in its economy including its Information Technology sector. Capt Yongyuth said that teh Indian counterpart met with Prime Minister Gen.Surayud Chulanonthe in the Fifth ASEAN summit in Cebu city in the Republic of the Philippines and has expressed interest in expediting FTA with Thailand to facilitate trade and investments between the two countries.

Prime Minister Gen.Surayud said that India\'s IT and Pharmaceutical Development could enormously compliment and strengthen ASEAN as a whole.

India Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh (นายมัน โมฮัน ซิง) addressed has expressed interest in completing the FTA with Thailand by July 2007. He further added that cooperation between India and Thailand may be extended to other areas such as Science and Technology, Aviation and Space Technology and Security Warning System.
