Yeh bkk, has everything & more, it’s one of my favourite cities in the world to live, in fact I left to go Chang mai for 5 days working and I hated it.

just don’t buy a crazy ticket for a crappy place in a hotel on sukhumvit or something

Really?

What other big cities have you lived in?

Thanks everyone for advice. By "Riverside" do you mean a specific area along the river or just anywhere?

The hint is in the khao san and China town part.

Not the sharpest tool in the box are we....

The biggest celebration is in front of the Central World Mall, hundreds of thousands show up for the Times Square type ball drop and countdown. The entertainment districts are all in full swing, and packed with revelers. Plenty to do in Bangkok on New Year's Eve.

I spent New Year's Eve some years back in Koh Samui, lots of fun there too.

On Samui we had a obligated newyears party in the resort, 2000 baht a head. Had to stand in a very long line for the buffet and when i was at the steakstation it was already finished. Never again.

At central world i've also been, very very busy, no beer, loads of kids making selfies nonstop. No taxi to go home....never again.

So this year we stay home, party with neighbours and sit in the garden.

If i would go out it would be to a western pub....but i can't be bothered.

meh...

I guess I owe geriatrickid an apology... we were at Khaosan Road, but that is way more fun at any normal weekend. Pretty much the same, just with higher prices and no free taxis. Guess I keep trying a few more years, and then settle down for plan B: A romantic meal followed by a private firework :whistling:
