Shaking down a few lightweights.

Never mind the jet skis etc.

Yea way to get the poor lady with 4 surfboards trying to feed 5 kids.

I was expecting to see 16 farangs holding fags and 100,000 bht fines.

Nope- fining someone BREAKING THE LAW!

Did you bother to read the full article?

"two jet-ski operators were fined for parking on footpaths, and two vendors with sidecars operating from the sidewalk were also fined. One umbrella rental operator was also fined for parking their car on the beach."

If you know her so well why not sponsor her- nothing in the article about her circumstance.

No mention as to the amount of the fines. Most likely, a minimal amount and the encroaching vendors will be back to business as usual shortly.

I would think that confiscation of equipment for a period of time would be more effective in avoiding repeat offenders.

Depends if they were smoking at the time of the inspection, because that would mean 100K

Yes, I did.

"Six tourists were fined for parking in areas not permitted for parking"

what happens when they fail to pay the fines?

All I could think of is... How many Thais does it take to change a lighbulb

Definitely a photo op there for the officials!

"It's such a nice day today, let's go down the beach for a stroll and grad a bite and a beer" "Oh wait...we'd better fine a few people while we're down here so it looks like we're working. How about those silly surfers, yeah...they'll do"

Well done Colonel Sanya. You do the nation proud with your military service that has obviously prepared you for such challenging missions. Will there be a recommendation for a beach umbrella or surfboard medal?

Seriously, four military, one civil servant and one police officer seems overkill for law enforcement in this case.
