Sixteen people fined during Phuket beach inspections

PHUKET: Army officers, police and municipality officials inspected beaches at Kata, Karon and Patong yesterday (Dec 5) fined a total of 16 beach management offenders under the orders of Col Santi Sakuntanark, Commander of the 25th Infantry Regiment and the highest-ranking army officer stationed in Phuket.

 

Col Sanya Thongsawat, Chief of Karon Police Station and the officers first inspected Kata Yai Beach and parking spaces at 10am, along with Karon Municipality officials and Karon Police

 

A surfboard rental group of four were fined for operating their business on the beach without approval from the government, Col Santi told The Phuket News’ sister publication Khao Phuket.

If you know her so well why not sponsor her- nothing in the article about her circumstance.

No mention as to the amount of the fines. Most likely, a minimal amount and the encroaching vendors will be back to business as usual shortly.

I would think that confiscation of equipment for a period of time would be more effective in avoiding repeat offenders.

Well done Colonel Sanya. You do the nation proud with your military service that has obviously prepared you for such challenging missions. Will there be a recommendation for a beach umbrella or surfboard medal?

Seriously, four military, one civil servant and one police officer seems overkill for law enforcement in this case.
