Halfway across the country and with the entire South now behind him, Artiwara “Toon” Kongmalai reached Nonthaburi to the northwest of Bangkok on Wednesday, Day 36 of his charity run to raise money for private hospitals.

Toon and his group crossed the Mahasawat Canal Bridge at 10am to enter Nonthaburi’s Bang Kruay district.

Crowds of people waited at the foot of the bridge, chanting “Toon fight on, Toon fight on!”

Completing his second lap of the day, Toon rested at the Mahasawat tap-water production plant and was to commence the third lap at 5pm.

Tracking his progress, the website KaoKonLaKao.com shows that Toon has run for 28 days since setting out on November 1 and covered 1,324.3 kilometres.

Donations to date total Bt587.873 million.
