Data Roaming AIS-Prepaid for Singapore

Featured Replies

Would anybody know how to activate data-roaming for a few days in Singapore and what the daily cost/data limit is. Could not get a clear answer from their site.

Thank you kindly. MS>

In Bali, it was 60b a minute to receive a phone call from Thailand! Ouch!

My experience is AIS Post Paid - but it may be the same (although you'll need the credit to buy the packages).

You can buy a 'Roam like home' unlimited data package with free calls to Thailand for a fixed number of days, or a fixed MB data package that's valid for 30 days.  It's around 400 THB per day for the unlimited.  You can set it up before you leave by phoning them, or by using sms, and there's often an AIS stand at the airport.

With post paid you can also activate using sms (dial *111*1#) when you arrive - but not sure if this works with pre-paid.

Or get a local SIM?

Yes you can set it pretty easily. Costs and data limit vary so might as well ask an AIS rep about it. Otherwise, getting a local SIM is also a good option.

You should be able to buy a local SIM card upon arrival at the Singapore Airport.  In most cases that works out to be a lot cheaper than using data roaming.

Bali is expensive, buying your own SIM is too. I just used the hotel Wi-Fi when there.
