The government has announced that two roads - Routes 7 and 9 - will be toll free at New Year.

The freebies will start at 12.01am on the 28th of December and continue until midnight on the 4th of January.

Arkhom Termpitayaphaisit said he expects 4.6 million vehicles to be on the move in and out of the Bangkok area over New Year.

He expects more vehicles than last year to be using the roads.

The closure of the toll booths will mean 156.72 million baht in lost revenue but lead to better traffic flow.
