PHUKET: The Phuket Governor has ordered police to strictly enforce the law against drunk drivers and motorcyclists not wearing helmets during the upcoming New Year “Seven Days of Danger” road safety campaign, this year to be held from Dec 28 to Jan 3.

Governor Norraphat Plodthong has also ordered officials to specifically keep an eye out for unlicensed drivers and to conduct vehicle checks, presumably for safety and illegalities, and to ensure motorists obey traffic rules.

The mandate was handed down at a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall yesterday (Dec 18), attended by Vice Governor Governor Snith Sriwihok and the heads of the main government offices on the island, and police.

Next headline, U-Turn! Now you can drink as much as you like!

Its all ok! As far as the last police chief xmas statement . Plus everyone here seems to be a police chief!

No problems just ride in the back of a utility with no seat belts allowed during festive season and no restriction on numbers !  The driver as stated must not be blind drunk as the only condition but did not mention other basic rules to reduce Thailand,s genocide on their roads being about 136 per day based on on road immediate deaths and later deaths such as:

  • Speeding
  • Ignoring basic road rules
  • Unlicensed
  • not wearing a helmet
  • etc etc

I think the UN should take charge for prosecuting this legalized genocide and take those responsible to the Haan !

Yeah, yeah, yeah....heard it all before and now just waiting for the doctored final figures at the end of another disasterous 7 days of hell.

Title should be redone. 'Cops doing for 7 days what they should do EVERY day'- sorted (even though they won't do it properly throughout the 7 days).

How about this in the normal days! Who should taking care of this?
