R/C Light Switch

Featured Replies

Expect other have the issue of recessed overhead light above computer which would be better turned off when watching video.  Nice to be able to do this with a remote control but be aware that the easy insert control into lamp socket will extend the bulb well below ceiling so probably not acceptable (glare).  Easy option is remove light and attach remote control unit between electric feed and lamp socket.  These units are very cheap and seem to work well.  But often not clear how to wire.  Side of single control will have 1 -  2 3 4 wires coming out top and antenna wire from bottom.  You attach wire 3 to feed electric common and 2 to feed electric hot.  Wire 4 to socket common and wire 1 to socket hot.  As always best to have electrician do the actual work but you may need to tell him what wire goes where.

Left type extends light too low in most recessed fixtures.  Right unit you wire and place in ceiling space along with fixture.
