Police in Pattaya have arrested a British man in connection with the death of a woman who fell from the fifth floor of a condominium.

On Sunday, Police arrested a British man at a bar in the city.

Police say he was the last person to see the victim alive, having spent time with her in the moments before her death.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, police were called to Cosy Beach View Condominium in Pratumnak following the discovery after a security guard found the naked woman body of 26 year old Wannipha Chanhuathon.

The suspect said that he rented the room in question at Cosy Beach View Condominium.

He said he had taken a bar girl back for sex in the room - they continued their sex on the balcony when she fell.

He felt distraught and left the scene and went to stay in a resort and spa in Bang Lamung Soi 7, said Thai media.

The police operation took 20 hours until the arrest was made.

According to his passport the suspect is 25.

Why would a 26yo man need to be anywhere near bargirls [prostitutes], and on Viagra too? Poor girl probably refused unreasonable sexual demands and things deteriorated from there,[ it's amazing how fast the 'girlfriend experience' can turn nasty], violence resulted, girl gets thrown off balcony. If this is the case I hope he gets 50years in Bang Kwang.

More than likely both had alcohol in their blood...she loses her balance and falls....

unless he has a history with this girl, past violent behavior, the condition the 2 left the bar (from witnesses), the height of the flimsy railing, arrangement of balcony items....

my detective work says accident over suicide as farangs have a monopoly on that one...

if arrested, don't you have to be charged with something? Being held for further questioning would have made more sense; then upon evidence produces formal charges or not...

as someone pointed out, sexual discrimination quite possible; doubt she gets arrested right off the bat had they switched places...

premature speculation by the police and that is wrong....

Why will anyone defend a coward who runs away from the scene ? If he was innocent and it was an accident he would have called for help. But no he ran away, guilty in my book.

Yes, because the Thai justice system is known for its fairness and forensic abilities.  Just ask the 2 Burmese guys.

The police have to look at how many days he was booked into the hotel the incident took place at.

If he had days left and checked in at another; he needs to be asked why.

He also needs to explain the reason he didn't call for help immediately after the incident as opposed to just checking into another hotel.

It would also be intersting to know if this is his first visit to Thailand and if so, if he has stayed at this hotel before.

I know that one should not pre-judge, but I think that he is doomed simply for the fact that he vacated the hotel immediately after the incident.

It was a suggestion :

There have been two instances within a few days of reports of people taking viagra and acting in a way that isnt consistent with viagra consumption .

There is also a lot of fake viagra available on the streets, and there is yabba available on the streets, its not beyond the realms of possibility that there is some contaminated Viagra doing the rounds on the street .

It was a suggestion, rather than an "assertion" .

Ok. My apologies. It was a ridiculous suggestion.

Nobody would lace viagra with a drug that is more expensive and even more dangerous as you now have a drug crime over your head. If you make fake viagra, it stands to reason you use something like starch as a filler with no active ingredients. You would not put drugs in the batch.

Maybe because he is a foreigner.. people identify with that fact. If he was Thai they would all attack him for running. Good thing that for people like you you look at the crime not nationality.

This guy is doomed .

Au contraire.

Under Thai social norms, he will be able to pay his way out of this as the deceased is a hooker.

I am not suggesting this is right or morally correct, I am simply saying this is how things are done here.
