Video: The state of Thai education! It's come to this to make the kids learn!

A video widely shared on social media showed a maths teacher - Khru Effy - dressed like a pink fairy to amuse his students.

Complete with wings, crown rimmed pink sunnies and fluffy earmuffs and antlers the teacher does a two minute routine to try to get his students to solve an equation.

At the end he declares: "Good - you got it. That's enough!"

But netizens could not get enough of his antics that entertained the class of high school grade children - the story has been liked 12,000 times and shared nearly 37,000 times across Thai social media.

The post on Facebook suggested that the students were having trouble remembering....until Khru Effy got to work proving that even dull mathematics could be fun!

Funny and yes got their giggle attention.

Where's the Ed ministry and some policies about what's appropriate and not appropriate teacher behaviors, pedagogy etc?

Teachers who have professional teacher training know how to gain and keep the attention of their students, and if the students had to pay attention to ensure they pass their exams maybe they would pay more attention.

Ah, the Arkham Asylum that is Thailand. Don't you just love it?

in the last 6 weeks my local friend's children, at a very reputable school, have had; two half day christmas parties (not a christian school), spent a day rehearsing sports and cheer leading and another day for actual sports and cheer leading, had 2.5 days off for scout camp, had a half day party for childrens day and another half day party for teachers day and finally another two half days rehearsing for a school fair/festival - which did take place on a saturday.

so they have lost 7.5 days of tuition in the last 6 weeks. astounding.

Clearly all this talk about relevant education and prper document to be able to teach in Thailand, is nothing but a bunch of nonsense.
If this man can be cleared to teach, then nobody can be rejected.

However, as always. Everything must be sanook, othervise we can´t be bothered with the theacher. Sanook is only slapstick humour or dressing like a transvestite.

Another valid reason for me to seriously consider taking my children back to Europe for their education...

And this is where all the teachers were on the 18-01-2018 in Udorn...Udornthani birthday.

Is anyone really surprised. the education system here is very poor, lacks any accountability and has little progression and development. But as long as the class is 'sanook', then all is OK. One might think that it was a conspiracy to keep the masses dumb whilst the elite send their children abroad to be educated.:coffee1:

They will still need a calculator to add up 25 and ten.

The assistants at my 7-11 look gob-smacked when I proffer the correct money for three or four items in advance of them ringing it up on the till.

Idiot.....

Isn't exactly teaching them to grow up!

He’s not exactly teaching them anything.

Very poor technique. He’s talking too much and not engaging most of his class in the learning process.

"Isn't exactly teaching them to grow up!'

Lots of negatives in what the clown is doing, perhaps the worst of all is 'Isn't exactly teaching them to grow up!'
