Sen. John McCain On Nunes Memo Release: 'We Are Doing Putin's Job For Him'

...

“The American people deserve to know all the facts surrounding Russia’s ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the lens of politics and manufacturing political sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.”

This is now really starting to feel Watergate-y, but worse.

Worse because I think the complicit republican congress will let trump get away with anything.

The good news is, we'll probably get to find out who shot JFK and whether or not we have been visited by extra terrestrial beings, before Trump decides to testify.

The Democrats messed it completely up. They were so sure to win. And now the Reps have to fix all this mess. And the only thing what comes from the Democrats: mimimimimi. Mimimimimi.

And then they fabricated an own memo. Do they not see how hilarious this is? Serious?

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned.

In the meanwhile, mimimimi :)

[Special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation has gathered enough steam that some lawyers representing key Donald Trump associates are considering the possibility of a historic first: an indictment against a sitting president.]

[While many legal experts contend that Mueller lacks the standing to bring criminal charges against Trump, at least two attorneys working with clients swept up in the Russia probe told POLITICO they consider it possible that Mueller could indict the president for obstruction of justice.]

Some recent media commentary snapshots...

The memo proves something that surely does not help Nunes’s conspiracy theory, namely that the FBI was first alerted to possible interference from Papadopoulos, not by the dossier. The memo arguably undercuts itself when it acknowledges that Papadopoulos was what triggered the FBI investigation, not the Steele dossier.

President Trump’s decision to release House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’s memo alleging wrongdoing at the Justice Department, combined with his ill-advised intervention with the Justice Department over the issue, represents the most unethical — and potentially illegal — action he has taken since he fired FBI Director James B. Comey. And like the Comey decision, it may now feature prominently in the obstruction of justice investigation dogging Trump’s White House.

The White House chief of staff pressuring the Justice Department over something the department believed could undermine an active investigation into the president himself — crossed the brightest of red lines.

I will never figure out how the Dems who have released all sorts of classified information to the Press are now so up tight about releasing this memo.  My guess is that trying to keep this memo classified is not in the fact that methods or sources are so exposed but what happened will be embarrassing to the some of the higher ups in the FBI and Justice Dept.   We shall see what's in the thing today, but defending not letting the American public see what their government is up to is what is so distressing to me.  Most people know that so much of the material is kept classified to preclude embarrassment.  FBI and Justice department have been stonewalling both Congressional investigations for a year by not releasing information when asked for it.  Who's running the show the Congress or the Agencies?

The collective response by the Dems is apparently to say that it's not factual, or doesn't include enough information, when yesterday they were all chorusing that it was going to compromise "National Security", which it obviously doesn't.

Doesn't matter to them what is actually in the memo, it's just a bunch of glove puppets on every anti Trump media outlet parroting the anti Trump theme of the day.

I can't wait for the movie on all this to come out.

I think Rosenstein is safe at the moment, given the optics of firing him now, but I'd love to be in his bosses office when he goes in for the inevitable "conversation", and I sure hope the hearing in front of the congressional committee is open to the public, as he tries to weasel his way out of this one.

Worth noting that the others named have already been demoted or sacked.

They fabricated their own memo? And the falsehoods were so obvious that the Republicans refused to let it be released to the public?

Bring it on!

Certain Dems have been calling for his impeachment for a very long time and it's not going to happen on the present information.

Any anti Trump lawyer can "consider" anything they like, but it doesn't matter in the real world if they can't make it happen.

I wonder if all those beating this drum realise just how much damage they are doing to the US by dragging all these salacious and unverified accusations through the public view for potentially years?

In the end it will probably just fizzle out given there has been not a single leak of any actual proof of Russian collusion, and it would be all over the media if there were.

Seems to me, that having failed to prove Russian collusion, the Mueller investigation is looking to nail Trump for anything, no matter how unrelated to Russia. If they should succeed, they'd better be watching their backs as it won't be taken lightly by those that see this to be just a "get Trump at any cost" sham, and his base are not going to be going away quietly.

If Trump is felled over some legality, we ain't seen anything yet.

Anti Trumpers should be careful what they wish for.

Yes, just like in the Watergate days many are getting sacked, as you say. How did that work out for the sacker?

Yawn. Nothing there. What a waste of everyone's time.

Pelosi disagrees with you

Pelosi said, “First of all, it’s a bogus memo. It is not based on fact. But it does reference highly classified intelligence matters. Now we see that he is even altered the memo, so to make matters worse. If he were to release that memo, he would not only be endangering our country, but he would also be violating the rules of the Congress of the United States.”

NB Pelosi was able to read the memo before it was released, so she should have known what was endangering the US to make that comment. So, either she didn't know what she was talking about, or there is indeed something there.
