rooster59
Former national police chief suspected of links to Victoria’s parlour money trail By The Nation A FORMER national police chief will be among those likely to be summoned by investigators working on the human-trafficking case involving a Bangkok massage parlour, a source said yesterday. In addition to the unnamed retired police chief, five other people may also be summoned for questioning by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) as part of its investigation, according to the source. They are suspected of involvement in the money trail of the Victoria’s: The Secret Forever massage parlour, which is being investigated for involvement in human trafficking and prostitution. Authorities from DSI and other agencies raided the parlour last month and rounding up more than 100 masseuses who were mostly illegal migrants from neighbouring countries. Arrest warrants issued A number of the parlour’s executives were apprehended and arrest warrants were issued for its alleged owners, including businessman Kampol Weerathepsuporn and his wife Nipa. Investigators have found connections between the people facing arrest warrants and those likely |to be summoned for questioning, |the DSI source said yesterday. They were found to be connected to |financial transactions involving some Bt300 million, according to the source who asked to remain anonymous. Also, it was found that a former national police chief was named in the parlour’s lists as a recipient of free services in March 2014. The list was among the items confiscated during the raid last month. The DSI had handed the list to the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) as part of the latter’s separate investigation against officials allegedly being bribed by the massage parlour, according to a source from the PACC. It was unclear yesterday whether it was the same former national police chief to be summoned for questioning. So far, none of the parlour’s employees have identified the police officers who were recorded in the list of those receiving services free of charge, the PACC source said. The employees questioned by authorities all maintained that no state officials had received services at the parlour for free, according to the source. z42
Could be any but my bet is Somyot (now head of the Thai FA). One of the most openly crooked, loathsome figures i've seen. Any person who gets rich off the back of trafficked minors being forced to have sex for a pittance deserves a bullet imho

They need to also investigate the way he laundered all his ill-gotten gains from being the RTP chief into Cambodian border casino investments. Doubt that will ever happen or whether he will ever be identified with massage parlors.

All things considered, should they not be considered victims of human trafficking and forced sexual exploitation, rather than “illegal migrants”. Edut: in the same spirit, liberated from exploitation rather than, “rounded up” might be more accurate. trainman34014
He will be summoned, spoken to very nicely with loads of wai's and then released without charge. He certainly won't be interrogated or have any of his assets frozen as he has too many friends in high places. This is Thailand where true justice is unheard of ! mtls2005
Somyot is in trouble, if only because he didn't share the income with his brethren in Green. At least buy a dude a watch. Those in charge are damned either way. Either they were, oh what's the term they used for Yingluck, "negligent in their duties" by allowing these brothels to operate, or they knew about it, and were profiting. Eric Loh
Like the Royce Roll case, names were on the list but will the corruption agency has the fortitude to call them out and charge them. We know those in high positions and wealthy are unlikely to be charged and convicted. This is Thailand after all.

wealthychef
Quote Secret Forever massage parlour, which is being investigated for involvement in human trafficking and prostitution. I'm always suspicious of claims of human trafficking. It's a catch-phrase like "terrorism" that allows police to take extraordinary measures without clear evidence. I'm not saying HT is not happening here, but let's first just admit that human trafficking is not the same thing as prostitution, and all the arrests mentioned and evidence described just sounds like illegal prostitution work, not trafficking. You might also include the alleged fortune reputed to have been paid by the Headman on Koh Tao for the very public 'acquital' of his son which was orchestrated by the former Chief of Police. Classic Ray
Is it just me, or are a lot if businesses being targetted the ones that make the most money? could this just be a readjustment of ownership? Hands up anyone who won’t be surprised if this knocking shop doesn’t reopen under a new name in a few months after a small refurb and connection of another water source? They'll simply say there is no evidence that links him with the case (maybe because it has been lost). When I say 'him' I mean anyone of high social standing, because there are very strict laws in this country regarding making negative comments about someone.
